I thought it was worth 4 10s. I thought it was the best 'Latin' we have had this year. Abbey gave 100% commitment and I enjoyed every second, it was definitely dance of the night for me.

Natalie doesn't have Abbey's joy when dancing, Sophie couldn't have handled the content, let alone the conviction. Susan just isn't skilled enough, though all three are great in their own way. The only other contestant who could come close to pulling off that content is Patrick.

Super dance, I LOVED it.

I lived through the disco period, I didn't get Abbey's dance at all. I was amazed at the marking.

Great salsa the dance of the night.

I thought it perfectly captured the disco vibe. If any dance was worth 10s tonight then it was that one. Loved Abbey and Aljaz's reaction to receiving such a high score.

She should have been penalised. It wasn't a salsa.

I thought it was fantastic to watch and probably my favourite of the night, but I can't tell a dance from a doughnut DSpy seem very unhappy by the marking, though!

Thought she was out of time! Couldn't believe she got 10s, was expecting 8/9s.

Hi Peter. Sorry about the match.

Sorry, it was a Disco song.

It was done with disco backing dancers.

it was a disco dance.

Salsa ? is that a latin dance ?

At times she looks a bit awkward, and that's why I don't think she deserved four tens.

I do like Abbey, and didn't think I would. But it's obvious she's being over marked because she's not pulling in the votes, this could very well back fire on her though.

I loved it too, be it a 4 tens dance... I dunno , I know I punched the air tho ha ha

My concern is they gave Abbey the tens and not Sophie.. for me a lil bit sad but I wont take away from Abbey for that.

but for me Sophie had the dance of the night

It was not a Latin. As someone correctly pointed out in another thread, the music is suited to Latin Hustle not what Abbey was doing which was a sort of disco type showdance.

Your comments just show how objective dance can be, I also lived throuh the 70s and the disco period and I thought it captured it very well - I thoughtly enjoyed it, some of the moves reflected the ones on the film and reminded me how long it took me to learn the dance so I could join in at the local discos - "The Gold Mine", "The Zero 6" - if you lived in the area you will remember these!

Don't know about the 40 but they are so adorable, I don't even care. Still the best dance of the night in my opinion!!!!!

She just burned up the floor - I thought she was fantastic!

Ok - I'll come out age-wise - I was young in the 70s and in London just as the disco craze took over (had elements of latin) - I was a dancer in nightclubs: Thursdays and Maxims - I also burned up the floor - Abbey was great! Authentic - you better believe it - she was even dressed correctly and Aliez.

It was no way a salsa. It was overmarked and I was underwhelmed.

She did great. As the OP says, it takes some doing to not just look awkward and 'not quite right', and she achieved it.

I loved it and thought the combination of disco with salsa moves worked very well

Then we are probably of an age. We didn't do so much SNF line-dancing this side of the pond, but they channelled it well in that routine, check out videos of the film.

How many times have we heard said it isn't fair that the CELEBS get marked down for choreography? It looked Salsa enough to me, but even if it wasn't, we can't have it all ways.

Me too. I was so nicely surprised because I really expected this routine to fall flat - from nerves not lack of ability, Abbey had already shown she has a flair for Latin as well as Ballroom. I'm so glad she had them under control.

I actually whooped for joy at the end, I loved the spirit and the energy of the dance and am hard pushed to think any of the other celebs apart from Patrick would have been able to dance a routine like that.

I'd give it 7 (and I'm being generous).

I don't pretend to be an expert on dance, but I've watched every series of Strictly and have to say I found that up there with the best in terms of my enjoyment - and I don't even like Abby.

I thought they'd overmark it and she'd get nines.

Not great, danced far too soft, feet awkward on occasion, no dynamism, no salsa.

I'm bewildered quite frankly. It only makes sense if they're trying to save her or something.
