She was AMAZING. Totally agree with the OP. I was pleasantly surprised with her tonight. My favourite dance of the series so far.

Full of salsa content to a disco beat! The claim that she is being marked high just to save her is laughable and laced with sour grapes

I thought she looked shit in the training vids but she and Aljaz really pulled it out of the bag tonight!

As someone with no knowledge (except what I learned from watching Strictly) I loved it!

It looked salsa-eye to me. It's got to be hard to combine disco and salsa though.

I loved Sophie's dance too.

Totally overmarked - she was out of time - flat feet didn't enjoy it one bit - the worst dance of the night

I did really love it but reckon it was more a 37/38.

Abbey's dance was worth an 8, at best.

That's what I was expecting. A mixture of 8s and 9s.

I think Abbey was as shocked as I was when four 10s popped up!

Are you sure it's not sour grapes?

Worth eights.

Not great, and not salsa, and not good disco. Pleasant enough mind.

Not great, danced far too soft, feet awkward on occasion, no dynamism, no salsa.

I'm bewildered quite frankly. It only makes sense if they're trying to save her or something.”

But Rhumba, the judges have been around long enough to know that giving someone the perfect score is going to result in a backlash for that celeb, so not sure it does make sense, sorry.

All I know is, seldom do I even relax when a celeb dances a Latin routine, let alone enjoy it. Salsa, disco, salsa hustle, I don't care; Abbey was fierce and the routine was blistering

Their dance was never worthy of 10's as it was not a salsa

You know, I don't usually respond to comments like that - but it is just so pedestrian, so obvious, so banal, so tiring and so terribly silly. Most women have moved on from all that years ago.

I quite like the girl.
I thought she looked terrific tonight
I thought her dance was quite entertaining.

Was it the dance of the night? No way. Did it deserve those scores? Well, just read people's opinions.

This dance will become a more cringeworthy 40 then Lisa's Cha Cha in a few years time. Shame that the judges are going along with fixing the leaderboard (expect her to top the leaderboard the coming two weeks, her only chance of avoiding the dance off).

Well, I don't know about that. Sometimes it's even deserved.

As for fierce - not that I could see - soft, stilted feet, soft arms, not fierce at all. Not snappy, no dynamic pauses, not properly ON the rhythm, just a nice, floaty, ordinary, not bad, girly sub disco number.

I'm glad you enjoyed it though. And it wasn't as bad as I'd feared, but forty?

BIB. That kind of sums it up for me too. As for all these comments about what a samba is - Wiki seems to indicate theres loads of different types. Seems correct, as to me its one of those 'nothing' dances that have just sort of evolved. As have most latin dances to be fair.

Well... she deserved it about as much as Pamela and Jason did when they got their 40s.

I do hope you are not female Sherlock, or else one of the more enlightened posters on this board will say something really original like - hold your breath - you are jealous of long-legged good-looking blonde women.

Tedious, I know.

ooh, pedestrian, eh. Now I'm really impressed.
'the girl'. Condescension in spades.

'people's opinions' why should the opinions of randoms on the internet be treated as some sort of authority.

Get over yourself

Wrong. But most of us can't help noticing that your contributions to the main thread are mostly just criticisms of Tess.

Me? I saw no salsa, in fact I had to ask my friends what dance it was meant to be! Totally overmarked and underwhelming

I thought it was a good disco number (if weforget it's meant to predomintly meant to be a Salsa). I understand some Pros might feel limited to the theme or music but still....more content can be squeezed in surely. Abbey danced it well for what it was, but it wasn't exactly Salsa to me.

Oh, did I hit a sore spot? Come on, you started this with your nasty little snipe so I responded. Fair?

Now I see you are mentioning Tess. Don't quite see how she comes in to the debate about Abbey and her dance but as you seem to be interested, here is my opinion of Tess.

Does a darn good job in hellishly difficult circumstances and must want to grind her teeth being Brucie's adoring handmaiden when in reality the producers are probably relying on her to keep him afloat. Chemistry with Claudia is good although, regrettably, they do look a little odd together. Better when they are in two different locations.

I have frequently criticised her dress sense which lets her down, both on SCD and out of it. For an exceptionally attractive woman with an enviable physique and the personality to go with it, it is strange that her style hasn't evolved much from wags night out glamour. She could look sensational if she kept it simple with well cut sheaths by fabulous designers but she always overguilds the lilly. Posture is also poor which is why tonight's dress looked oddly hunched.

Now, if you want to make a hate campaign out of that, best of luck! I'm off to watch Foyle's War!

Ok - I'll come out age-wise - I was young in the 70s and in London just as the disco craze took over (had elements of latin) - I was a dancer in nightclubs: Thursdays and Maxims - I also burned up the floor - Abbey was great! Authentic - you better believe it - she was even dressed correctly and Aliez.”

Agree. But it was supposed to be a salsa, NOT disco!
