I have been watching this programme for 11 years from the start. I have loved stand out performances like Mark's salsa, Argentine Tango, Colin's american smooth and rhumba, this year's Sophie's Charleston. The last straw for me was tonight's 40 score for a salsa that wasn't even a salsa. I've only posted about 3 times on this site and never ever posted a thead. But tonight's score of 40 for Abbey has prompted me to post this. I am ashamed of Craig. He always seemed to stick to his principles but not tonight. That "salsa" was not a salsa. They clearly want to keep her in and this is no longer a dance competition but some kind of revenue producer. It's goodbye from me after all this time.. All I will say is Sophie and Brendan to win but I probably won't see it.

If we could get through Lisa Snowdon and Pamela Stephenson's perfect scores, we can get through this one.

I have to agree that this series the scoring has been all over the place. How anyone without any or much knowledge of dance is supposed to compare the routines is beyond me.

But I think you have to get both sides of the story. There's a lot more to Strictly than making a Salsa a Salsa - or what you perceive to be a Salsa, or anything else for that matter. No doubt if you watch It Takes Two next week Craig will defend his decision and it might be better understood.

I just think all of these shows end up becoming a parody of themselves. You can almost write the judges' lines every week. While it is still getting the viewing figures (because the show is slightly less dire than the c**p on the other side) the BBC will keep on flogging the tired old girl into the ground. This year's zeleb crop are very poor.

It is a shame to hear after 11 years you feel so let down that you may not watch again

I now just ignore the judges votes as the public vote seems to nearly always have the right 2 in the DO.

I am shocked with the 40 score for Abby even though I think she has improved so much since the start. Patrick has improved a lot too

I am not sure what poor Sophie is going to have to do to get a 10 ... they all have a downer on here.

It is Marks turn to go tonight, I think he is ready to go bless him and in a lot of pain now

Try and stay despite the judges .

I hate to be 'picky' (like the judges ) but you haven't been watching for 11 years - only 10! There were 2 series in 1st year.

Fair comments I think! I'm not so concerned that the dance wasn't a salsa as I am that it looked a bit of a mess and Abby wasn't keeping up with Alijaz. Shocking bias from all the judges there!

I really enjoyed Abbey's dance but that had a lot to do with the music. I love Saturday Fever, the music and the whole disco thing.

However, even as someone who knows literally nothing about dance, I could see she made some mistakes

You don't need the judges scores, or comments for that matter, to compare the routines. You watch them, and you decide which gave you the most enjoyment for whatever reason you choose.

Someone who understands the technique of dance may like one dance for that reason, while someone who likes the showbiz-performance side might like another. (Which is why Len and Craig will seldom agree - they are looking for different things!)

but the judges marks can throw a couple into the dance off - I truly believe they know how the phonne votes are going and mark accordingly - how could len mark a disco dance as 10 for what was supposed to a salsa it just plain wrong

I think we may see Ashley and Susanna in the bottom

craig vs Len yes craig will see peformance and len technnique but if a dance is a smooth or a salsa before performance or technique comes in it must be that dance first

Strictly never has been or ever will be a dance competition.
It is a BBC, Saturday night, light entertainment show, produced and made to entertain the masses.

As for being ashamed of Craig, really? Why?
Craig is a judge, he is paid to give his judgement and a judgement is an opinion not a fact. Be upset, angry or cross at his judgement but to be ashamed of the the man (to me) seems very odd.

I agree the scoring has definitely changed over the years, Craig has said on ITT this series that he will only give a 10 to a perfect dance and then he goes and gives a 10 to that Salsa I think I am more let down by Craig tonight than anything else.

Don't take it too seriously, it is only saturday night entertainment.

The judges gave their opinions which you may not agree to but I don't know why you should question their honesty. Craig however misguided sometimes (eg lisa riley) usually gives an honest opinion and mark.

My opinion is the same as the judges in that I thought it was one of the best dances of the series so far but I like Abbey and think that some of the backlash is probably based on the fact that she does not seem to be popular with a lot of people.

That's the best way to look at it.

I think the scoring was all over the place because of Patricks three tens at the start. Where do you go from there?

Patrick dances energetically but I swear I see elements of dad dancing in there sometimes. Definitely not perfection.

I felt the same as the OP last week, and while the TV was on in the background I basically wasn't watching. I was fed up of Bruce, the lame jokes, the same comments from the judges, the crap training VTs, the overmarking, the unsuitable song choices, the dances that weren't what they were supposed to be, all that guff that Tess has to say about telephones and voting. Pretty much everything really.

But for some reason I tuned in again tonight and enjoyed it much more. All those elements were still there of course, so I guess it's just a question of being in the mood. It's not the show it was though, no question about it, and it is getting perilously close to the point where I'm liable to ditch it for good.
