Which singles from this year will be played over the next few decades, become classics and every age group will know the words?

Can't think of a single one, Roar maybe?

I'm thinking Wrecking Ball. Everyone seems to know the words, if you have seen the chat roulette version, it's quite funny to see how everyone sings along.

Best Song Ever, was that 2013?
I think that will still be around in a few years.
Maybe Get Lucky as well.

That won't be remembered by the beginning of next year, never mind the beginning of the next decade.

Wrecking Ball, We Can't Stop, Blurred Lines, Royals, Thrift Shop and potentially Let It Go from Frozen because its from a Disney Princess Movie & Happy by Pharell Williams if it gains popularity this year, i could see that being a classic too.

i can barely think of one.Get lucky might as it has been played to death & had been drummed into peoples brains.
Been a v poor year for music.
Can't see the other big hit,Blurred Lines having any longevity.

Avicii's Wake Me Up will probably be remembered as a party classic for years to come.

Daft Punk's Get Lucky will also be remembered too as well as Blurred Lines.

The best way to test these things is imagining if you are going to hear a certain song played at a wedding reception in years to come, where all ages can appreciate it and know the words etc. If a song can be played in this way, years on, it is a 'classic' I think.

Some examples from previous years:

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem
Beyonce - Single Ladies
Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
Rihanna - We Found Love
Adele - Rolling In The Deep
Adele - Someone Like You
Jessie J - Price Tag
Katy Perry - Firework

--

As for songs from 2013, I reckon the following will be remembered:

Daft Punk - Get Lucky
Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines
Macklemore - Thrift Shop (maybe not at weddings though)
Icona Pop - I Love It

Blurred Lines, We Can't Stop, Wrecking Ball, Roar will be remembered as classics with Get Lucky and Wake Me Up as club classics, Thrift Shop would be a classic hip hop track, Best Song Ever may be somewhat known but 1D will be remembered for themselves rather than their songs

Justin Timberlake - Mirrors.

Kind of revived his music career after his initial comeback hit 'Suit and Tie' didn't do particularly well.

I've never actually heard of that song so just looked on youtube. I'm actually shocked that it's got 461 million views and yet I've never heard it before in my life

It didn't get a lot of air play here but it got number one & in America it's one of the biggest hits on radio

LDR - Young and Beautiful

I can't see any singles from 2013 being remembered past this year to be honest, save for Get Lucky, possibly Blurred Lines and Roar. Maybe Thrift Shop and Best Song Ever. This year has been pretty crap music-wise; having said that, it's been better than the past few years, IMO.

EDIT: I can see Royals standing the test of time, too.

I agree with these 2 examples. They may have been the most deserving no 1s so far this year.

Although many don't like it, I reckon Passenger's Let Her Go will be considered a classic and used on many talent shows.
