Netflix on Xbox One
HI
Does anyone know if non-UK Netflix libraries can be viewed on Xbox One? For example if you use unblock-us or overplay's dns servers in the xbox and you have selected the USA Netflix library on unblock-us or overplay account, will you get the USA library on the xbox one? I can do this on my Sony Google TV Box (NSZ-GS7) but thinking of buying a xbox one. cheers

No you can not as soon as you set up the xbox one with your details and tell them which country you are from they know, even if you try to use a vpn or change dns it wont work. I made the mistake of signing up to unblock us for my WDTV live box then all of a sudden netflix nor iplayer would load up so i resorted to doing a factory reset and still nothing. In the end i messed up so had to buy a Roku Box.

It works very well I must say. I use the built in Netflix app to watch UK Netflix and Playon to watch the other regions. |

But the downside is you need your PC to be turned on to be able to use it, Whilst the WDTV was a good device especially for external USB it lacked in other ways. Since i have had this Roku 2 XS ive not had a problem and the apps such as netflix and BBCIplayer have a much better feel to them and a lot faster. I will not even attempt to use unblock on the Roku because from what ive read it is a nightmare to get going and if you mess up you have to create a new Roku account.

Well according to Unblock-Us yes you can use the service on Xbox One. There is however a bug affecting some Xbox Ones from changing the DNS. Quote:
Please note: There is a bug affecting some Xbox Ones whereby the DNS will not change - it will revert to 0.0.0.0 (as detailed on the Xbox forums) There is nothing we can do about this as it's a Microsoft bug. If this happens to you, please get in touch with Xbox Support who will advise you further.

Yes you can. I've been using Unblock-US on my Xbox One since launch and I've had no problems at all.

Second that. I have tested Netflix on the Xbox One with Overplay and it works perfectly well in different regions.
Of note, I should point out that it uses a completely different UI to other platforms and although it works great and I love the way episodes are handled, I don't see any existing watchlist (not to be confused with My List). By watchlist, I mean the category which shows all the current shows you are watching. All they have is the last three episodes, and it throws you straight into the episode, which is quite annoying. For others outside of the UK, 4oD, Demand 5, Lovefilm and Crackle also work through Overplay on the Xbox One, and I have to say, for the first time ever, I am impressed with the Demand 5 app. I can't believe I just said that. But it has the highest quality picture on any platform I have seen, with the most responsive UI and so far... no bugs that seem to plague other platforms for Demand 5. Will be testing the PS4 maybe this week if I can find one in the shops. |

Thanks Tictac2, you are quite correct. At first I didn't see the ... extras, and did know to look for them. In fact, after you posted this I checked again and it still wasn't there.
But all of a sudden the ... appeared. Now, maybe I am going mad, I don't know, but I swear they were not there before. Still, the now is what counts... thanks

What Smart DNS service are you using? It is working perfectly well through my set-up with OverPlay.
Many services need to be configured by the Smart DNS providers for each platform, and perhaps your provider hasn't configured it yet? |

Did you read the paragraph at the top of the how to setup guide, could this be the problem?

I can confirm Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Prime Video, Lovefilm, 4oD, Demand 5 and Crackle are currently working through OverPlay's Smart DNS on the new Xbox One.
One of the cool things with the Xbox One is that you can mix and match apps from other countries in the single hub. This makes it the perfect platform for us DNS users. There is a full review of the Xbox One focusing on its media servers here and mentioning that in quite a bit of detail. As far as I know, Overplay are committed to this platform. There are still a few apps not working that I hope to have soon, but it is Xmas after-all

In addition to what I wrote above, OverPlay have just gone and added SBS On-Demand in the last couple of hours as well to their Xbox One Smart DNS supported services.
The cool thing about the Xbox One, is that you can briefly change your region to Australia, install SBS On-Demand, then head back to the UK. It will retain the apps from both countries, so you can have SBS sitting next to 4oD and Demand 5. SBS is an Australian channel's catch-up service that has not only Australian content, but is famous for world cinema and TV shows from all over the world (with English subtitles if needed). |

Nope, Unblock US isn't working for Xbox One at the moment. It isn't working for me or any friends. Might have to try Overplay...

^^ OverPlay are on a roll with the Xbox One. Yesterday they just added Zattoo to their Smart DNS service.
Zattoo offer a whole pile of live TV catchup, a bit like TVcatch-up or FilmOn, so they have the UK channels, but also German, Spanish, Italian and Swiss. You can grab Zattoo from the German region on Xbox One, but that is as easy as changing regions on the Xbox to Germany, installing Zattoo then going back to your own region. Pretty cool, especially if you are using the Xbox outside of the UK and want those channels. Tip... if you set your favourite Zattoo channels, they will appear at the front when you fire the app up on the Xbox One. |

With Overplay... will the $5 service work? or do I need the 10 dollar one? With UnblockUS we're paying around $5.

The $5 one is all you need. That is for smart DNS.
The $10 one is VPN + Smart DNS, and you don't need VPN here. |

^^ Well, now OverPlay have just gone and added tenplay to their Smart DNS support on the Xbox One.
So, that's all the FTA catch-up services that can sit next to each other, Demand 5, 4oD and SBS plus tenplay from Australia. I am wondering what they can add next? Is everything covered now? |

If only the Xbox One had HDMI 2.0 and HEVC support for the new 2160p60 Netflix then it would be the ultimate future-proofed media centre solution.
Still, hopefully when the OneGuide (which can already show the different regions' apps) launches the EPG for the UK then it will have scroll-back functionality with integrated catch-up, like YouView, Freesat Freetime ( http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/tv-recorde...rogramme-guide ), Zattoo on iOS ( http://www.eyeondemand.com/2013/03/0...uk-television/ ) and the new preview UI of BBC iPlayer on the desktop website. In the same way that these services can be navigated with their companion mobile apps, it would be great if this functionality could also be supported in SmartGlass. |

I have US Netflix on my Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and iPhone 5 all working fine with the unblock US DNS number. If it's not working for some people on Xbox One then you must be going wrong someewhere along the line.
