Ive been a Three customer for just over two years now. In October this year I came out of my two year contract and went onto the One Plan, one month rolling contract for £18.00 p/m. On Sunday I changed my contract to the One Plan, 12 month contract for £15.00 p/m. I received a letter from Three today to advise of my contract change. It states that the One Plan is £25.00 p/m but I pay £15.00 p/m due to a £10.00 loyalty discount. This is where Im confused.

The Three website clearly states that the One Plan 12 month contract is £15.00 p/m, so how can Three say its £25.00 but I pay £15.00 due to a £10.00 loyalty discount? Surely with my loyalty discount, I should only be paying £5.00 pm :-s

Ignore the discount, this is how Three bring the price down to £15. I am on the £18 one month rolling contract and my bill always states I am due to pay £25 with a £7 discount.

I thinks it's a bit naughty if Three to say is £25.00 but giving me a £10.00 loyalty discount when it's £15.00 for brand new customers.

No, the base price on their systems is £25. The £10 discount is not a loyalty discount but a getting-the-tariff discount to bring it down to the £15 advertised. Peculiarity of their billing system. I think the £18 a month monthly one plan is also £25 a month with a £7 discount or something.

Every customer would get a discount applied. The only way three can bill the £15/£18 a month contract is to say it's £25 a month with a discount.

I'm a brand new customer, my account says £25 a month, and then £7 worth of discounts.

Did the guy on the phone actually claim to be offering you a discount on loyalty grounds?


That's correct. My £18 One Plan bill displays a £5 discount and then a £2 discount.

its simply how their billing system works and is easier to state a loyalty discount rather than to change it

I'm on the 1-month 1-plan and may well change to 12 month as it's great . Same comments on discount.

One consideration -- early termination. Do they base payment required on the £15 or £25. Not that I would but worth thinking about.

The advertised and agreed price is £15 so it has to be £15 or less.

Just be advised that if you do wish to upgrade and get a phone with them, you would need to buy yourself out of the sim only deal first. For some reason, Three make you pay off the sim only contract first.

Really? If so that's bad on Three's behalf. Customers sign-up on a £15 contract and should be treated accordingly to that.

Three quote the early cancellation fee at the price you pay. So it'd be £15 x the amount of months left.

Just because you were with him doesn't mean they were right. £25 a month is both incorrect and unlawful

It's wrong when the price is permanently marketed at that... though termination calculated on non discounted rate is normal (vodafone do it for example).

Pretty academic for me as three is miles and away better anyway but still think they shouldn't do this

Beware signing up for 12 months.
I did the same as speeds were great on monthly so signed up for the One plan at £15 a month and now speeds and data are unusable. I've had to sign on with Giffgaff on monthly sim just to have a working unlimited data package.

I pay £17.96 a month. Not sure where the 4p discount comes from.

It was made clear to us the monthly contracted line rental is £25 and that's the figure used for early termination.

If that were remotely true then I think it would be fair to say that there would be thousands and thousands of people complaining on forums such as these.
The fact that there isn't indicates you're in a minority.

I was on the £18 a month plan to test the system before I switched to the £12 a month contract and my speeds have remained constant ( and far better than my previous supplier).

To answer another poster, I didn't have to change numbers or do anything special to go onto the 12 month plan either, they just changed my contract and it was seamless.
