I hate to be a wet blanket but be careful asking too many questions about macrovision removers as this breaks Digital Spy's terms and conditions...
It is fair to say that some people use these devices for legitimate reasons, such as problems encountered with some equipment that doesn't like macrovision encoded signals just playing live (not trying to copy) But, I'd suggest either googling this question, trying the This review I found or asking at the AVForums |

Steer clear of Sonel
Before you order anything from www.sonel.com try their phone number (on website) it is very rarely answered and the PayPal account Reg. No. is fake. I was sent the wrong item (took 3 weeks to arrive) and returned by Registered post. I got through once in 40 attempts over 3 days and I was told to *U** OFF ! They are going down the tubes as the law is changing... you could lose your money. PayPal's no help.

It's an old thread but I ran into this problem on my Toshiba DVD recorder, I was trying to record from BBC IPlayer on the PS3 which is linked up to the DVD recorder, I was greeted by a stop message. Yet If I'd try to record the same programme off air or off the Sky+ box it would have been fine so apart from the annoyance of them imposing this, is there any point, I resorted to torrenting it which took less time than it would have to record in realtime.
Was it Macrovision and are there still options to get it removed such as that modified scart lead? So annoying that the media companies and electrical companies are in bed together and in this case to prevent licence fee payers from recording licence fee funded programming! |

Yes, it's macrovision getting in the way. They don't like you recording catch-up programmes, but you can record them when first broadcast. Doesn't make sense to me. If you use your sky box you only get a limited time to watch catch-up programmes before they are automatically deleted. And they wonder why piracy flourishes!
I don't know if the leads are still available but that would be one option. |
