I got the BT youview box last week, and had to reset it to get the BT Sport and extra channels, now the sound is often down when i turn it on, not where I left it, and the remote control has a several second delay, is this normal ?

I cancelled Sky due to lack of funds, but their pic quiality and their remote seem so much better.

Thanks for any relies

The Sky remote is very intuitive and fast to use. I've always found it a struggle to go from using that regularly to using slow and clunky Freeview remotes. You get used to it after a few weeks though.

I have noticed it getting sluggish to respond sometimes since the recent software update. Noticeably navigation around the EPG, and skipping forward/back through recordings can be a bit unresponsive.

I half-exected this to happen when they added the ability to record the streaming channels - and I record and time-shift them them a lot. The box is often recording two streams in the background when I especially notice the sluggishness.

Presumably they will eventually address performance issues related to the new software with future update.

edit: I absolutely cannot stand the 'clicky' remote that came with the BT Youview box. I find using a Logitech Harmony universal remote a far more smoother experience.

And the wife was just watching X Factor on pause time shift and it lost all picture completely, I had to change to the HD channel to get the picture back.

Latest update seems to have knackered it. The UI has previously been very slick.

Yes I have found that the remote is very slow to react and it also does not work well with the 3 number channels as I find it miss out a number and changes to a channel that you did not press ..it's normally the first number or last the box and remote does not work with even with the blue remote light showing a signal has been sent.
Also the software freezes easy in settings and epg is slow...
