And which albums do you prefer from him? you guys liking the major debut he put out a few months ago? or House of balloons??

I mean Triology is an ok album I heard it cause my friends played it a lot. It all kind of sounds the same. I did download "Kissland" though & thought it was good. In terms of R8B artists, they arent that many right now & it works for him.

I think 'House of Balloons' is fantastic and one of the best R&B albums of recent years. His other mixtapes aren't quite as strong in my opinion, but I still enjoy both of them - 'Echoes of Silence' in particular has some great stuff on it.

However, 'Kiss Land' is one of the biggest disappointments of 2013 for me. I don't like the production and the songs just aren't up to scratch, which is particularly problematic when many of them are stretched out over 6-7 minutes. He seems to have lost the edginess and his way with a melody that made the mixtapes so appealing. I do quite like the song 'Kiss Land' itself though.

I wanted to get into his stuff, but I just couldn't. What is his best work from a fan perspective?

I would start with 'House of Balloons' - being his first release, it's the one that got him noticed and I'd say it's a pretty good introduction to his sound.

I totally agree,Ive really tried to get into him and considering my music taste I should like his music but for some reason I dont. I'm a massive fan of this new alt/r&b scene with Frank, Solange, Miguel etc. I loved his Crew Love feature but his solo stuff just isnt for me (so far)
