Streaming 1080p MKV problems
I have 2 wdtv media players and a RPI. I have been experiencing buffering/pausing when viewing 1080 mkv rips ( 10 gig files )
This wasnt an issue when i had the supergub 1 with virginmedia. I now have the superhub 2 and can almost guarantee a 1080 rip wont play throughout without it pausing on several occasions. Is there anything i can do improve this? One media player is connected direct from the modem whilst the other is connected with 200mb homeplugs. TIA!!

Might be something in the wiring with the home plugs or the mains.
also are the home plus plugged straight in the socket? as I hear extension leads slow these down to. Maybe a long Ethernet Cable would work better though is more work and having to run wires. |

Maybe a setting to check its in N mode hopefully someone else knows.
This says how to check settings http://help.virginmedia.com/system/s...MER_TYPE=Cable Though if you don't know what they do its best left alone. |

Don't use Homeplugs. They are gready crap technology that WILL cause interference to other users, and ,as you have discovered, don't work that well. Make a direct connection then report back.
As it is already hardwired and giving problems, can you look for a firmware update for your route please. Also look for Large Packet data sending or something similar in your router settings. You might be better going for a router with Gigabit speeds on every Port, but looks like a handshake problem somewhere. Has the router got an antivirus setting ? |

This is nonsense as usual.

Port Scan Detection IP Flood Detection Pass-through IPSec Pass-Through PPTP Pass-Through Multicast Pass-Through Do i need to alter any of these? |

I had problems with 1080 MKVs that were ripped with original audio (usually DTS), so use handbrake and converted to Dolby 5.1.
I have read that some homeplugs shouldn't be plugged into surge protected leads. Some say they should be plugged directly into a power outlet. ^ But I ignored the advise and so far play well. |

I don't think its a network issue right now - - i have tried wireless and it buffers on same part of film as it would connected up to Ethernet.
I was looking into the "level" it was muxed i.e 4.1 high etc. Would making it a different level fix the issue? |

Plays fine on PC, so think it's a wdtv or network problem, but I have a 60 Meg connectionconnection
However are you playing it off a Hard drive or downloading it straight off the internet. Also if your PC has a good graphics card, then at same bit of film; it will handle a difficult graphic scene a lot smoother |
