The fact that I can't see any adverts when I scroll down, seems to me that this must only be a temporary measure.
They can't be making any money from it at the moment

Ok DS. we need this sorted. I am in 'mobile' mode on my iPad which at least means I can navigate the threads & see all the posts. BUT. I also want to be able to use the smilies & the other bits and pieces on 'advanced' that now are lost to me unless I go onto 'website' mode which doesn't work properly on the iPad. Not happy

Shhhh, don't let them know that all the adverts are disappeared (not that I normally see any anyway, but still...)

I'm assuming it's a work in progress, so I'll sit and wait 'til it's finished. I hope the posts have more of a contrast/definition when it's done because that's the main thing I don't like so far.

Pretty amateurish to unleash such a port quality untested product on us though. On iPad I can only read in the mobile mode or half the text doesn't appear and can't be found!

Sorry DS but this is terrible. Whats the point of a forum if you can't read the posts in full or navigate to a page?!

Change for the sake of change? It is not an improvement and I don't like it - put it back as it was DS, your readers have spoken

Eeek, is this here to stay? They paid good money for someone to come up with this layout? I am sure Len would give it a ten though.

Exactly.

Even after a few minutes trying to scroll through posts I'm getting a headache.

The new look DS is vastly inferior in every way. If these are permanent changes, I'm off.

Call me a cynic (and I think I called you one a couple of days ago so fairs fair!) I have a hunch that this whole exercise is geared around creating space for more adds. I doubt these blank spaces to the side are for readability.

This is dreadful, truly dreadful. I know everybody always complains when changes are made (every time Facebook changes, millions whinge in unison) but this is just horrible. Grey on grey, but dark grey on black for my inbox section :s and a really old-fashioned '12-year-old designs a website' look to it. And the only thing worse than all that glaring white will be when they fill the empty spaces with adverts.

Not a happy bunny at all.

Really ugly .

Couldn't see what was wrong with old one so unsure why changed...unless just for the hell of it.

According to the piece in yesterday's Guardian it was old fashioned and visually unappealing.

So they kept those two features and added unusable it seems. Plenty of comments appearing in the Gruniad.

Another problem is that when you're reading through a thread and come to the end of it, say it's 3 pages long, there's no way of getting back to the main Strictly forum.

The breadcrumb trail is still there, it's just above the DS Forums title on top left. I am using a new stylesheet just for this forum (Opera will let me do that) and all the elements are there, I think it is trapped under that giant header on most browsers (along with a giant banner advert that I can just see the bottom of - I bet whoever paid for that is going to be pleased...).

Have to use the back button four times, or use Opera and a different stylesheet. I like the one I've got now, and I won't be changing it no matter what they do to the forum. My browser is under orders to ignore the abomination they've foisted on us, and to render what I tell it to.

Not on mine it isn't. Can't get back to the main forum. I'll come back when they've fixed everything.

Go to top of page and click strictly come dancing

I must be the only one who finds the new layout quicker and actually quite like .

Unfortunately the immoveable header that covers a quarter of the screen is hiding the strictly come dancing header so I am forced to use the back button as well.

This whole forum looks like a load of amateur programmers have been let loose with PHP and html. They've discovered what it is possible to do with the latest versions, but haven't got the sense to know it shouldn't be done. Bye bye DS. I shall come back in a week to see if sense has prevailed. My mini flounce off the forums to give my brain a break from the nastiness is turning into a full flounce to give my eyes a rest from this horrible layout.

I'm used to the mobile version now. Haven't tested desktop one yet. Would like a bit of colour on the mobile one as it's gone a utilitarian 😈

Who thought this was a good idea? It's bloody awful.

Saturday night is going to be interesting on the spoiler thread, seeing as it's impossible (for me anyway)to go to the last post.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Whoever they paid to 'redesign' the site should be dismissed and never allowed near any PHP/HTML/CSS ever again.

Now the most appalling layout on the web, and I've seen a few!

Someone should buy them a copy of 'Prioritizing Web Usability' by Neilson and Loranger. They might actually learn something and even understand the rudiments of good interface design.

Light grey on lighter grey?? Fine if you have 20/20 vision but for lesser mortals this could be the death blow to DS

Is this a case of providing an opportunity for someone on DS's son or daughter who has just finished a web design course?
If so it's a huge fail...
