BT YouView
Can anyone tell me what is the different between BT Youview from BT with sub for £5/m and a free box, also activate fee of £39.99
Then I saw a BT Youview box on Amazon for £199? If one does buy from Amazon or Currys, will then there be no sub charge of £5/m to access BT Vision libary? |

To get access to any of the BT Vision services costs £5.00 per month. If you subscribe to this service for 12 months and pay the £39.99, it works out that you get to own the Youview box for £99.99. That saves you £100.00 and you get access the the BT TV services as well. At the end of the year, if you want to you can cancell the £5.00 per month and keep the Youview box. Its a no brainer.

Thanks for that info
I thought if one pay for a BT Youview box from Currys or Amazon then it will get free access to BT Vision service. Once again, thanks, I will go for the BT Youview directly from BT and pay for sub as well |

Quick question, are the BT Sport channels part of the BT Vision services you mention? And therefore would they only be accessible by paying the £5 p/m? |

I believe the £5.00 a month gives you acces to the BT server, which just happens to have the free BT sports channels on.

With BT youview box you need to take BT Broadband, BUT you get 54 channels with BT sports 1 & 2 in SD & HD with sky movies, discovery, watch, Fox and others in SD & HD.
There are different channel packets prices, but it's from £3 We also get extra iplayers for those channels above with also BT films. You can record BT channels with the Freeview SD & HD channels. SO that's 184 channels.. |

Until the most recent firmware update, which is currently rolling out, "retail" Humax boxes - including those DTR T1000 500 Gb models sold by DRG(Currys) and John Lewis with the BT logo - were not able to access BT's multicast protocols.
The new update means once again all Humax boxes should be harmonized in terms of the software capabilities. Note BT supplied boxes, even when corrected to another ISP, receive the BT updates, not the general YouView one. |
