In their failed reunion documentary in 2006 Tony was living in a gated mansion through the fact he wrote all the songs and got publishing. The other three had average houses and average jobs. I think one was working a construction type job I believe. Brian was saying how he couldn't afford to pay bills etc.
It was the same with Take That first time around although the other three (excluding Robbie who made his money later) still all lived in nice homes abroad due to how phenomenally successful they were after the split. Gary earned eight times the amount more than the others and like Tony his is a massive sprawling mansion. They often joke about this. It pays to be the songwriter. Probably also why second time round they are all agreed to be on the publishing.
I saw a programme and it was basically successful pop groups talking myths and one was about the irony that for a long time they don't actually have a lot of money and are on minimum wage. This programme I saw 5ive were saying they were constantly on Top of the Pops with hit singles but were broke and on minimum wage for the longest time however people assumed they were rich. It was only a good few years later before money actually started to come in from tours etc.
