Well folks, Sky have kept to their word & have finally got out of bed with Apple & have released a working version of Sky go on 10" Android tablets. I am happy to say that I installed it a little while ago on my Samsung Tab 2 10.1 and it works pretty damn good. .

A special mention of thanks to a poster on here paulbrock that trailed the beta and contributed towards getting this sucker on larger tablets.

I wasn't able to find the install directly on Google Play, but I did find the link to the part for Google play via the Hot UK deals App.

Seems to work OK on my Asus TF300t 10 inch tablet. If people can't find it by searching in the play store the easiest thing to do is search for another Sky app, say Sky WiFi click on it and then click see more by Sky. Then the Sky Go Tablet app shows up.

Spoke too soon. Works perfectly for the first 10-30 seconds then it just freezes. Hopefully they fix it.

ETA: it seems to be A Sky Sports specific problem. All the other channels seem fine. Strange

most tablets should work fine. @Resonance I know they recently 'upgraded' the Sports channels, which should result in a high quality pic. May be teething problems though.

Its likely difficult to find on the store as there are two apps, Sky Go and Sky Go Tablet. There's a phase of the work scheduled which will combine it all into one app. I think for Spring next year.

here's the direct link

Hi Paul, after a further play I've found it's only SS1, 3 and F1 that have the freezing problem. SS2 AND SS4 are fine.

Any ideas on why that would be the case?

nope! some others have reported freezing. Change to the streams was also pushed out today, apparently on SS1,3,4,SSNews and F1. so SS2 shouldn't have it but SS4 should...

I don't have sports so no idea what to expect.

OK thanks Paul. Just tried SS4 and it did indeed freeze. Sure it was fine earlier, or maybe it's just me forgetting which ones froze.

Hopefully it gets sorted.

Tried the Sky Sports channels today and everything is working OK besides SS4 and F1. Maybe they're working through the freezing problem channel by channel? Anyway at least something is happening.

bit more info on the sports streaming posted to the beta testers:

We have made some changes to the Sky Sports channels this morning[wednesday] so that some channels are configured slightly differently to others – we’re trying to find the best configuration and so would like to ask you to watch live sport over the next couple of days and provide your feedback. In particular, we’re interested in understanding whether you see periodic ‘stream freezing’ when watching the live channels, and whether your experience is better or worse on each of the different Sky Sports channels.
so they are aware of the issues at least...

Yes I've managed to get it installed now thanks to the link that Paulbrock posted. It works well. I haven't tried any of the sports channels yet.

Installed fine on my tablet but when I went to access one of the channels (Comedy Central) I got an error message about not being able to play on a rooted device.

Have no idea what that means but the tablet is not "chipped" or unlocked.

This is the spec:

9.7in/24.6cm screen.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobility - ultra-long battery life.
1.6GHz dual-core processor.
1GB RAM.

Bought new.

Any techno minded people out there able to offer any help?

Thank you so much. I will try that tonight. Seems easy enough even for a technophobic like me.
