Is anyone here a fan? I've always loved her music. My favourite albums by her are Solitude Standing and 99 F. It's been awhile since she did an album of all new material, but she is releasing an album in February called "Tales from the Realm of the Queen Of Pectacles". The musicians and producers of the album sound amazing as they've worked with David Bowie, Peter Garbriel and Kate Bush in the past.
Here's more information about the new album.

Great! Thanks for responding. I think some people have a misconception about her. They think she is a straight up folk acoustic guitar artist and people who find that kind of music boring avoid her. I can't blame them as I find regular folk kind of boring too. Suzanne has some folk elements but over the years she incorporates other things too like electronics on something like Blood Makes Noise and also electric guitar elements. One of my favourite songs by her is the rock song When Heroes Go Down. The new album sounds amazing since it seems very eclectic. She's always had a pop element to her music, not plain folk like Bob Dylan or Leonard Cohen who I've never been into.

Yes, when she shakes it up and puts a bit more bite into her songs I think she's great. Must admit I always thought she wasan earnest folkie but shes a great talent. Left of Center and Small Blue Thing were great too.

absolutely adore her - she is one of the best female singer songwriters in the last two decades….
her lyrics are stellar….

fave songs: queen and the soldier; bound; i'll never be your maggie may, 99.f, blood makes noise, small blue thing, book of dreams, no cheap thrill

I still don't understand why she is so underrated?

I get to see her live for the first time in Feb 2014…. so excited!!

I for one think her voice is quite captivating. Like many folk I played the DNA remix of 'Tom's Diner' to death at the time, which is when I can truly say I first noticed her. Her 80s material in particular was some of the best music from that decade in my opinion: I heard 'Marlene on the Wall' on Radio 2 the other morning and it was stuck in my head all day.

You'll love it! She's great live. She always tells really funny and interesting stories behind the songs. All the songs you listed are my favourites too.
I think she's underrated because her music is a little too accessible and pop oriented. I know that sounds odd but a lot of musical critics seem to like it when artists go more avant garde and atonal. For instance, they love the recent work of PJ Harvey which to me goes too far in that direction. For me, she should be just as acclaimed as PJ but unfortunately she isn't.

Have you actually listened to her music and her lyrics? She's not depressing or suicidal like at all. Her lyrics actually have a great sense of humour and wit to them. I can see people seeing early Tori Amos like that even though I love Tori, but Suzanne's music is nothing like that.
