Dmr-bwt800

I am trying to get my head around the various recording modes on DMR-BWT800 as I archive some long term HDD recordings.

I normally everything in HD with just the Automatic settings.

I make most BR copies in SP as the 10.5 hours is a good compromise on quality and amount stored on the disc - I send some to a relative overseas.

I recording some programmes on BR in HD before deleting. I had chosen HD as it seemed the best quality but when I got the handbook out I noticed that it describes DR as 'nearly perfect broadcast state' and 'quality as the broadcast' and it stores more on the BR disc.

I am wondering is there any disadvantage in using DR if it is better quality and stores more? I wonder if there are compatibility problems with other BR players?

In a word "Yes". Audio, for example, may not work with a DR recording on on other BluRay players.

Thanks, I had not looked closely at the options for some times.

Perhaps have to do some experiments.
