I always worry that just playing something on an accordion does not make it automatically suit an AT. That seemed very fast in places and if Vincent & Flavia were showcasing an AT to it, it would be brilliant. For a novice pair I hope Susanna & Kevin manage to pull something AT like out of the bag, whatever version they use.

still a very fast AT given how intricate the feet are supposed to be in AT.

Most of the music seems good. Not excited about Ashley's Salsa or the music for Sophie's Tango. All the others seem good, I hope to see a fantastic Paso from Artem and Nat especially since their Tango wasn't the high level I'd anticipated. I think this week A & N will excel.

the music choice might be strange for the tango, but it has the tango beat (lol at the person suggesting dancing a foxtrot to it) and it has the stop-start moments in the music, so they should be fine with it?? My only complaint would be that I hate Madonna (haha), still using a track from the worlds most famous female pop artist ever should garner a few free votes. By the way, Kevin is soooo going to wear a hat, isn't he (cringe)?

IMO the David garrett one is not right still prefer the Aldo Taborda which is an AT

The violin is surely the primary instrument for this dance, it is so expressive and it is naturally...tense.

Much easier to dance an AT if there are drums as per this piece. And speed is not an issue - just dance on alternate beats. Can go to alternate, normal or double beat in line with the musical message.

Though not sure how many times Kevin has danced an AT to allow him to adapt to the music.

More important to demonstrate control and balance then foot pyrotechnics - in the real AT world of course. SCD is different I know.

Or a bandoneón

I agree. It makes a huge difference to me with or without accordion or bandoneón.

Doing a tango to Material Girl has got to be more sensible than doing a rumba to it (WTF).

Ick. Brendan should totally have choreographed some of that on-the-floor business into his nun's rumba with Sophie. Would have worked a treat.

It has already been used in strictly for Letitia's tango.

It does work. I just get fed up with all the up imaginative song recycling. One of the things that made Sophie's charleston so great was that they danced to fresh modern song that hadn't been used before.

Call me cynical and no doubt some will, but Artem and Natalie' s music seems like a similar choice in terms of traditionalism to Kevin and
Susanna' s. Maybe an attempt to tap the same vein, since it worked for those two. Not sure whose choice and how it will be danced, though and certainly not castigating them for it.

WTF indeed! "The boy with the cold hard cash is always Mister Right" - so Derek Hough choreographs what? A prostitute and her customer? Bizarre.

Lol! Well, I will call you cynical (< meant to be *stick out tongue* smiley, but who knows?!). Artem used traditional paso music with Fern and Holly, too, so it seems he just likes it. I'm thinking his approach to the dance is unlikely to, er...tap into the same vein...in any other way (< some other indisinguishable emoticons in yellow).

Were you thinking of this?

[I love it BTW - not sure for what though]

The pros no longer have a say in the music.

Tango and Foxtrot are both using the same key signature music, so it's perfectly possible to find music that fits both. "People are Strange" by The Doors is a good example of that. Don't forget that the tango has a lot of promenade, hesitation, etc, so it's not all about the staccato moments.

It's the mood of the dance that often defines the suitability of music. Using music that suits the mood of the dance makes it a lot easier to perform, but not essential. A friendly couple of mine danced a surprisingly good tango to "strangers in the night" by Frank Sinatra. Ok, they happen to be world class, but in any case, it proves the point.

Material girl, to me, would be more suited to a cha cha.

True, a cha cha would probably be most suited for material girl (goes for a lot of the 80's pop music).

I don't mind and I'm glad of an authentic Paso Doble. They will do brilliantly.

I think the producers cottoned on to something when K&S did theirs. Ashley danced really well the same week but it was lost in that silly theme and inappropriate song.

Prime tackiness from Derek Hough.

I wonder if whoever decides the running order needs re-training? Some choices have been very odd. Even managing to sabotage some couples as a result.

Put it to different music and probably fine. Who chooses/chose the music over there?
