Does anybody actually use Youtube like an iPod?

Just wondering about this....

I notice that an awful lot of the music video's on youtube don't seem to work when you try to view them on a mobile device and, instead, gives you a message saying something like "The copyright owner for this material has not authorised it for use on a mobile device".

I guess you could, theoretically, sit on the bus listening to one YT video after another but it seems rather clunky and it'd probably eat into your data usage.

So, are these companies blocking music video's from mobile devices in response to a problem that doesn't actually exist or do people use mobile YT like an iPod?

Or, alternatively, is there some other reason why a lot of music videos are blocked on the YT mobile site?

Dunno the reasons behind it but it's not blocking it from mobile devices but rather the conversion of it to a mobile format. If they actually wanted to prevent mobile devices accessing it they wouldn't allow the same device access simply by switching to desktop view.

On my HTC One I can simply change to desktop view to see the video if mobile view is blocked.

Despite things like spotify apparently YouTube is still the main music streaming service by far.
