The Edge of Destruction

just finished watching this one on DVD, a strange but not bad 2 part serial, i remember seeing this for the first tine in 2006 when i first got "The Beginning" boxset and not liking it but i enjoyed it more on the second viewing, the first part is s strange but i think i enjoyed the second part "The Brink of Disaster" more

loved the first confirmation of the TARDIS being alive sn the Doctor giving the speech while in the spotlight, some scenes were actually quite disturbing, with Susan trying to stab Ian with the scissors, you can imagine the uproar nowdays if that was shown before 8pm

It's deeply weird and I respect it for that.

It's also when the Doctor finally becomes friendly to Barbara and Ian, as if they've bonded during a shared acid trip or something.

When I watched it last week. I felt it was something completely different to other serials in the first season. As you say it has to be respected for that.

Similarly I have just watched "The Romans" and that was different in yet another way. It does show the way in which writers and actors kept the stories interesting and fresh when special effects were 0.
