I think I am going to come off of this forum now as I really cant be bothered reading more and more posts which slag Lucy off.

Ok I get it, some of the comments that she made were a bit cutting but before people reply saying she is nasty, she is a bully, she is miserable etc

ANSWER THIS

Have you at any time in your life, had an argument with someone?

Have you at any time in your life said to someone that you don't like a particular person,or slagged them off over something even if you don't really know them? Did you say it to that person or behind their back?

If you say no to the above you really must be a saint. If you can answer yes to the above (and anyone who says they haven't I cant really believe) then by judging the forum you must also be a horrible bully and burnt at the stake!! There would be no one left in the world if that was the case.

What people forget they are in the jungle 24 hours a day. We get to see about 30 mins (excluding the trial and the dollar challenges) if you are lucky. So comments that have been made saying Lucy is a bad person are unnecessary. I really don't think she is. The difference is Lucy's comments have been televised ours don't.

We don't see what else she or any of the camp mates get up I.e Steve Davis walking around with his arse hanging out so how can we judge them. If anything Lucy's comments show she is just being real like hopefully most people would be. So all the Lucy/Amy bashing is just ridiculous and uncalled for.

Think if Lucy is the bully, how will your own comments make her feel if she ever reads the forum. But wait I suppose that is ok?

I genuinely think that rtv shows like IAC and Big Brother seem to create a 'bitch' vacuum and a 'bully' vacuum, which cry out to be filled if they are empty. This has been a kindly, peaceful series, full of well-fed people having fun. Apart from Annabel, they all seem to have had a really nice time, even with all the difficulties. Amy said tonight that she has had a 'brilliant' time in there. Steve, no fool, said how well everyone gets on together, and this does seem to be true. Everyone gets maximum encouragement and congratulations over every achievement. There have (to the obvious regret of some) been no big rows.

But someone has to be forced into the role of bitch or bully; in the absence of any actual bullying or much in the way of bitching (in fact remarkably little this year) some small incidents must be massively inflated until they look like a bit of a drama.

None of which would matter, except that there are real people involved: someone like Lucy does not deserve to come out and see acres of vicious and often deeply sexist and ageist hate directed against her on twitter.

I don't understand why people get so nasty over a few edited highlights and when they all come out of the jungle they seem to be alright with each other.I also understand you might not like someone but sometimes on here the way they are spoken about you would think that they are either the most evil person in the world or a criminal mastermind!I wish the forum was more fun but I guess the highlights shown put paid to that.

How did Steve become "no fool". It doesn't seem to be true that everyone gets on together so well. (More on that below.) Amy doesn't always get maximum encouragement, though the sniping is generally kept behind her back.

I think there is considerable truth to the idea that there's a 'bitch' and 'bully' vacuum. But there's also questionable stuff (I'd say more questionable) going on in how people see Amy; and what you seem to want is for the criticism of Lucy and Co to go away and the criticism of Amy to remain (since you argue against the former, for instance here, but in support of the latter in other threads).

Amy is just as much a real person as Lucy (despite not looking like the supposedly feminist but actually misogynist idea of a "real woman"), and she could see a lot of vicious and misogynist stuff too. (I know you don't agree with that 'real woman' idea, but unfortunately it reflects what a lot of people feel.)

It's good that the OP explicitly includes Amy at one point -- "all the Lucy/Amy bashing is just ridiculous and uncalled for" -- and that goonerlady's post could also apply to both. But the thread isn't so balanced as a whole, and that's understandable. People generally argue most against the things they most disagree with and don't bother to disagree with views they think go to far but in the right direction.

...

Re everyone getting along and having a nice to brilliant time, etc --

An idea that things in the camp are really upbeat and fun seems to be catching hold, but generally as a way to say Lucy and Co are being misrepresented in the edit, but not that Amy is. (Instead, it often seems we're supposed to think Amy's even worse in the unedited version.) It's clear that this is not a neutral idea that says we should be sceptical of all we're shown and should hold back from being sure we know enough about what's going on.

Anyway, contestants in shows like this often say they had a great or brilliant time even though we know unpleasant things happened and were directed at them. Indeed, it's pretty hard to find anyone who says much differently. So it doesn't really tell us all that much.

I can't add any more to that Veri. Yet again, another excellent post (imo) from you.

They do all seem to be having fun in the camp, we don't get to see a lot of it only ITV 2 bothers to show a little. They have all come out saying they had fun so are they all wrong?Who knows how any of them are edited? I would think that it's more to do with the fact that Lucy is popular in camp and Amy has a few people who don't like her/ can't warm to her/ find her laziness and her lack of team spirit an irritant. Just as in the real world, that does make people unlikeable to some. None of us have been put to that test, they all have.

The other point I keep on coming back to is if ITV think this really is bullying and many of their employees on other programmes say it is too, why aren't they doing something about it?

I agree with you, but..
In the end this is just another internet forum where people type away until hearts content about all sorts of subjects.

Some will be fair and type considered posts, some will type to take the piss, some will type in a very confrontational manner just to get a rise out of others.

In the end though what ever others type is their business and their personal opinions.
You may not like it but they can and will type what they want.
I am way past getting offended at what an anonymous person on a forum types.

In answer to your question about what would Lucy think if she reads all these MANY threads about her on here.
I hope she is wise enough not to trawl the internet forums to read stuff about herself.

She will no doubt get told bits and bobs about the negativity spouted about her.
In the end she is a happy lady with a bloke she adores and will marry soon, a child who she loves to bits and a job where she is a very valued cast member and has many friends within her work place.
What people who are of no consequence in her life type about her should worry her not a jot!

Quite. But putting herself in the reality side of showbiZ, she has left herself wide open to public scrutiny. If her personality /"performance" in the jungle is commented on, well it's par for the course. Lucy would have known that before signing up!

Ive said this before. ITV couldnt afford to condone bullying so they, like a number of us on here, dont view it as bullying. Just remember how quickly they acted on the uproar last year over Charlies daughter.

But if the term 'sticks and stones' applies then the negative forum comments can be excused just as much as Lucy's negative comments.

It can get a bit much but I look at most of the comments as made in the heat of the moment. Plus it is an opinion forum, where we're encouraged to unload our thoughts.
An opinion forum with some very sedate and safe opinions could possibly be boring. lol

I just don't like it when it becomes personal between fans of campmates, as if it's some sort of war. That's when it gets really tedious.
No-one will really care when the show is over anyway.
