I eat different types of bread depending on what else Im eating, but some things only work with white bread - bacon butties, or hot buttered toast.

I wish I had a local bakery, at the moment I am housebound and rely on internet shopping, which means your choice of freshly baked items is limited, to what is available to the picker.

I eat it as too much fibre irritates my colitis.

The well known philosopher Billie Piper said it in the best way possible "Because I want to".

Now that might upset readers of the Daily Heil etc but thats a shame.

If I want to eat white bread I will, If I dont I wont. Its very simple really

The price puts people off.

Why do people eat bread full stop? Modern bread is over processed, over refined, pumped full of air and clogs your insides up. It's like eating kids play dough. It makes you burp and fart.

Ha ha. I went to a private prep school and one child there used to forgo every meal choosing to have white bread and butter instead. He was certainly not from a council estate.

I agree. I don't like brown bread and I really don't like the rye bread that i've tried.
I've seen on some shows where they have white rye bread and I wonder if that tastes a lot different to the brown rye that i've tried.

I prefer white bread but happy enough to have 50/50 mixed grain type stuff.

Racist council estate kids!
Your right, the government should investigate this deplorable treatment of non-white bread at the hands of those nutrition-shunning savages.
Infact, you should be the leader of this revolution.
Equality for non-white bread in the estate!

Amazingly, some people prefer cold tasteless dead lager to real ale served at the right temperature. People are just plain weird!

Yep, but Sausage instead of Bacon. Also a chip butty, far better with white bread.

He's obviously full of shit and never actually been to a private school, where they *shock horror* serve white bread. What does he think we were given at High Tea, for instance?

ETA: and I've been to a couple of Old Boys (and girls now) events where, shock of all shocks, the cucumber and salmon sandwiches were all served on... Braces white sliced.

White bread is one of the single biggest causes of Diabetes. FACT!

This is why it's been rising year by year. We probably consume more white bread than the rest of Europe.

Totally agree, it tastes great. Problem is most people here on mainland, do not know it exists, have never seen it, never mind taste it
Same applies to proper Soda Farls

My parents used to tell me that too. Backfired slightly as I pointed out that I didn't want curly hair.

You neither shock norr surprise me.
As soon as I read your OP I knew you had an "I'm superior" attitude and agenda.

A seemingly innocent question soon turns to "I am here to tell you........"

I'd be very surprised if we consumed more than the French, they don't even wait til they get home from the supermarket before they're eating it!

Wheaten bread is my favourite (although it's got as much sugar as white) but there's one particular bakery here whose plain loaf I could eat half of without blinking when it's fresh.

I love bread. All different types. Different occasions/fillings/toppings call for different breads. As others have said, some of us find sliced white is by far the superior option in certain cases.

I make my own using at least half strong white flour and the other half wholemeal - or sometimes spelt or einkorn flour. I haven't touched store bought bread since. Apart from the occasional Burgen soya and linseed bread. Which is great for bread and butter pudding by the way

I like granary and wholemeal, as well as white. Different for different uses.

Can't stomach rye bread or anything too dense.
Lots of reserché and 'artisan' type breads are revolting imo.
