I have a contract through T-Mobile (which is now EE) for an iPhone 5 with unlimited data.

If I tether my iPhone with my PC and use the iPhone essentially as a modem, will EE charge me anything more? I know T-Mobile used to have a policy on this but I can't find anything about EE.

It's just I have a Three mobile broadband modem that I'm paying for, and it's pointless if I can use the data on my phone via EE.

If you're paying a T-Mobile bill, you are still on a T-Mobile plan, even if the network name is showing as EE.

So if you are on the T-Mobile Full Monty with unlimited data, then you will find that this is normally NOT permitted. Some people get away with it for a while then find they are blocked, some people find they are blocked from the start.

If you upgrade to an EE contract for 4G signal then you get a limited amount of data (depends on how much you pay), but you can then tether without problem.

I think Apple give networks direct control over iPhone tethering.

So if it gives the ability to tether it more than likely that tethering is included in your plan.

As another poster mentioned, it will be in violation of the terms and conditions of your contract and they could block your access to tethering at any time.

Having said that, I was on T-Mobile Full Monty for a year, and I never had a problem with tethering. I didn't use it very often but, when I did use it, I was able to tether my iPad or my laptop without a problem. Generally used it for web browsing or for Netflix (mostly when I was in hotel rooms without wifi).

Older T-Mobile customers are allowed tethering on the full monty plan. Hence it depends when you signed up.

There are no unlimited data plans on EE.

I should have been clearer in my post. I signed up in October 2012, after tethering on FM was taken away. But it was never restricted or blocked for me.

It is not included OP, so as others have said they could block it or suspend service.

So has tethering been taken away for all existing Full Monty customers or are you all just assuming the OP signed up under the new T&Cs (for which I see no evidence whatsoever)

That is not quite true!

Yes! - the "network profile" enables or disables certain menus such as creating a hotspot.

HOWEVER all iPhone users on a network get the same profile - some contracts will allow tethering but others will not! The presence of the "HotSpot" menu item means nothing in itself.
