Taxi for Baldwin
Thursday, 10 Feb 2005 12:42

Coronation Street's Danny Baldwin is set to invest in the street's taxi business amid Dev Alahan's financial problems.

Danny, played by Bradley Walsh, sees an opportunity to gain a bit of extra cash when hard-up Dev asks him to buy him out of his cab firm.

He agrees to help out Dev, played by Jimmi Harkishin, but unwittingly gets himself in trouble with his wife Frankie.

Debra Stephenson's character is determined to get out of Weatherfield as soon as possible and reacts angrily when her Cockney man tells her he's just invested most of their money in Street Cars.

A show insider told the Daily Star: "Danny's quite keen on the idea of taking over Dev's share of Street Cars.

"He sees it as a big earner, especially if he can persuade Steve to expand and update the fleet. The only problem, though, is Frankie.

"She's hoping they will soon have enough cash to buy a decent family house and exit the cobbles of the Street for good."

The latest storyline has been conjured up in order to allow actor Jimmi to leave the soap and undergo rehabilitation for his drug troubles, the newspaper suggests.

His character will not be killed off and Jimmi will be able to return if he can overcome his high-profile problems.

I know Dev is not the most popular character and his scenery chewing is legendary, but I kinda like him I hope he stays actually.

I hope the idea of Maya's trial has just been put on hold, and will kick off again when Dev returns later in the year...

She'll probably get let out again and then try to kill them again and get locked up again only to later get bail - you get the drift lol.

Knowing Maya, she'd be the judge at her own trial - lol. And the defence lawyer...and the jury...she could easily multiply herself into 12 persons, her mind is already that now

To be honest she should never have had bail for setting Sunita up for bigamy.

Dev is good but he's a big bore now. They should be giving evidence and preparing for a trial not fighting for the weatherfield traders association crown.
