Always a chance the producers asked him to play along with the total lack of knowledge/experience scenario. Besides, the alleged incriminating evidence is pretty flimsy.

Still, any dancer's detractors on here might not need ammunition but are often grateful for any scrap they can find.

As far as I can see he took the line of least resistance and agreed with Zoe. He probably didn't want to claim an expertise that he doesn't have or go into a complicated and frankly boring explanation of just how little AT he had done in what was supposed to be a brief interview. However it doesn't give him and advantage because

a) Only a small percentage of people watch ITT. Many are still travelling from work at that same time.
b) There is no reason why he shouldn't have danced AT. If anything it is commendable if he has. My ballroom teacher has learnt both salsa and AT. If Susannah has danced it before then that would be different.”

I think I agree with this, wazzy. On this show, Kevin is pretty much playing a character who is the antithesis of the perma-tanned gym-honed pro dancers (Artem, Robin and Aljaz in particular) and I think he's playing the geeky bespectacled wimp for all its worth. So the 'gee, shucks, I don't know this dance' schtick is entirely in character.

I don't blame him at all, I hasten to add, because I recognise that Strictly is a pantomime and every panto needs a Buttons character. It has also made him stand out from the crowd and he already has a loyal following, which will stand him in good stead when it comes to negotiating contracts next year.

He is playing to the geeky side a tad but it is basically him - but to be honest he is very like his Dad who in his day was very similar and was the lad from Grimsby that took on the London big boys and beat em Keith and Judy always noted for their humour can remember some great commedy routines at demonstrations from them

Well, after tonight I think we can still all safely say that Kevin has never danced AT.

Ha ha!

Susanna and Kevin are my favourites, but that was not good.

....gave them 4 of my free votes though, bless 'em.

Though I have to say, when people complain about the singers/band arrangement I usually think it unfair. Tonight, however, I felt the noise coming from the back of the room was impossible to dance to and it was to their credit that Susanna and Kevin managed to finish the routine. But for sure it didn't look like anything I had seen before

Agreed - but the (inappropriate) song was chosen by the producers not the band. The band played the song faithfully.

Quote:
“SCD Band @SCDband

@henrywilliams58 we don't choose the songs Henry. We love playing every style, bit difficult when asked what's our favourite to play

02:48 PM - 21 Nov 13”
