This forum has always attracted men like the OP. There's more than a whiff of misogyny about it as well. I think they must use the jealousy argument as an outlet for their own issues.

Absolutely agree....They must have some issues for it to get to them so much.

Yes, it's like they feel they have permission to come out with their (not so) latent misogyny, as if an attractive women being a bit disliked by some 'proves' they're right. (And some women, as well).

They toss their 'jealous' theory around with some relish like it's a universal truth that they are brave enough to acknowledge (and then have to get more forceful to keep it up when it's exposed an issue they have with women).

There are plenty of examples of attractive/conventionally beautiful women who've done very well, even won these kinds of shows in the past, and funnily enough posters like the OP usually go very quiet or ignore you altogether when it's pointed out to them. It's almost like they want the "jealousy" argument to be issue, but time and time again it's been exposed as bollocks.

Amy has done very well to last as long as she has in the jungle, considering she was virtually unknown before the show. She also had a lot of public support when it seemed she was being picked on by her fellow campers. I wonder how many of those supporters would be dubbed "ugly women" by the OP?...

I wonder if they'd be brave enough to come out with such hate filled misogyny in real life?

At the end of the day you can only speak for yourself, you cannot speak for other women. Nobody likes to admit that they are jealous.male or female.

Yes, that's what I'm saying.

You can't make the assumption that anyone is jealous, let alone that that's an innate characteristic of women. Not that no woman is ever jealous.

I'm saying women have different personalities, just like men, so you can't make such assumptions. It's the making of the assumption (that women 'must be jealous') that reveals the misogyny, where they are other reasons why a person might not be liked as much as others.

Good point about the other attractive women. People liked them or didn't according to their personalities. Ashley Roberts was very well-liked, for instance, as far as I can tell.

Yes, it's the same with programmes like Come Dine With Me etc. If a couple of women don't get on, it's their innate bitchiness. If men don't, it's them as individuals.

BIB, yes, I wouldn't like to be a woman of their acquaintance.

That is certainly not true. Most people are happy to admit when they are jealous, it's just that it's rarely about looks.

I'd say more people are jealous of talent, lifestyle or achievement. I am quite envious of Rebecca being part of the Olympic team, it must have been a fabulous experience. I envy people who can sing, dance (Vincent), or act. I envy people who are quick witted or super intelligent, I even envy the courageous, something I have never been. But I can honestly say I have never looked at a woman and thought 'I wish I looked like you'. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but I haven't stumbled across it yet.

I don't think that I have. But I do have a problem when asked why don't you like such and such? And the reply is, " she just irritates me" no explanation as to what the irritation is, just "they irritate me".when I dislike someone there is a reason.

which makes you think are you too embarrassed to say why you don't like such and such.

If you haven't assumed they are jealous, then I don't mean you but those people who've said that.

As for people being too embarrassed, well, that doesn't mean they're jealous or hiding something. Sometimes people just do irritate and, also, they have given reasons with regard to Amy.

But there sometimes isn't any more to it that someone just irritating you.
I find I can often not like someone much but can't put my finger on it. It's often 'they're a nice person but...'. It really isn't anything more sinister than that

Exactly! I'm definitely envious of the quick witted and intelligent and am happy to say so and I think Rebecca's achievements are amazing. I'm currently envious of anyone already living in a house I can't afford in St Ives.

Women are at a huge disadvantage on reality shows, but it has nothing to do with their looks. I think the jealousy argument just comes up every time men lose their reality show eye candy.

I agree with this to an extent ...(runs away and hides)

However not the last bit lol

I agree. Other very good looking women have done very well in RTV shows but they tend to be the ones with substance as well as beauty.

I think Andrew Lloyd Weber is 'far better looking' than David Beckham.

Am I right.. Or talking utter nonsense.

Genuine question Amaretto.

I don't think that's the same. If you take jealousy as 'having envious resentment' I'm sure you're not going to tell me that that is the definition you fall into?

Not saying ALW is attractive but he's definitely got something that attracts intelligent women to him (other than his bank balance and his apparent huge, ahem, manhood).
I seem to be in the minority but I've never been able to see anything in David Beckham and I'm certainly not 'jellus'

I don't accept that. If you say' it's just the way they flick their hair' I would find that to be very pretty , but at least that would be a reason , but to not like someone ,just because, is probably worse than being jealous.

Whilst I don't resent them, I do wish (at times) that I had what they have. It's a natural enough emotion. It is possible that Amy may have also felt jealous of those in camp that have a talent or lucrative career, we can't possibly know.

I think ALW's bank balance is a very attractive acquisition to many women.

Well when Amy came out and was discussing Rebecca's insecurities ; Amy said that she couldn't understand why she felt that way, and that she could never achieve what Rebecca had done. Which let's face it not many people will ever do what she's done ; but at the same time Amy didn't let that get to her.

However jealousy goes a lot further than just wishing; I'm sure we all wish and admire. But when it leads to resentment, then that's a whole different thing.

My husband thinks Ashley is gorgeous and I certainly am not jealous as she has substance and isn't selfish or vain, that's why she is liked... He says he doesn't fancy Amy at all...... But blokes like the OP wouldn't believe that as he thinks all men have to think like he does.
