Good to hear about the Black Mirror Christmas special. Though if it's scheduled on Christmas Day, it'll be one I'll record.

Perhaps a much needed revamp of the listings pages, especially the irritating daytime column.

very much doubt it as Rt now considers itself to be a magazine with listings rather than a listings magazine

GAINING POINTS

To gain points you need to enter the competition frequently. You will not be considered a winner with 5 points if you only entered once. You do not have to enter every week. The weekly winner will get 5 points. The person who comes 2nd gets 3 points and the person in third place gets 1 point. If there are more people who come 2nd than third, then all those will score 3 points and the third place ranking will be disregarded in any particular week that this occurs.

WEEK TWO QUIZ QUESTIONS:

1: What was the rather lacklustre afternoon movie on Christmas Day 1979 on BBC1?

2: After the massive success of the EastEnders "Divorcegate" episode on Christmas day 1986, what was baffling about the Christmas Day episode in 1987?

3: What film was originally scheduled for Christmas afternoon in 1985 but Michael Grade felt it "not suitable" and was rescheduled on New Year's Day instead?

4: What replaced that film?

5: Which Disney animation on ITV beat a BBC1 premiere of Annie in the ratings on Christmas Day 1986?

6: What year was the Radio Times allowed to publish programme details for all channels and not just the BBC?

7: In the 1991 Christmas Radio Times, what is wrong on the listings pages for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve?

8: What surprisingly beat "Tenko Reunion" in the ratings on Boxing day 1985?

9: What was heralded by the Radio Times to be the first science programme ever to appear on Christmas Day in 2000?

10: In what year did Joan Hickson's Miss Marple make her Boxing Day debut?

There you go. This week's questions. These questions will be up until midnight on Saturday 30th August. Answers and the top 3 entrants will be revealed next Sunday (August 31st).

The prize has been changed by the way! The winner will receive a framed print of a classic Radio Times cover. Good luck!”

Thought I would just repost Week Two's questions. It would be nice to have a few more entrants! Go on, give it a go! claires_dad's website will provide many of the answers you are looking for! Here's the link again if anyone needs it:

It was shown at 3.10pm.

3: What film was originally scheduled for Christmas afternoon in 1985 but Michael Grade felt it "not suitable" and was rescheduled on New Year's Day instead?
Clash of the Titans

7: In the 1991 Christmas Radio Times, what is wrong on the listings pages for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve?
For those who still own copies of the 1991 edition, turn to the listings on Christmas Eve. The illustration on the top of the page is the New Year's Eve illustration, (party with a reveller coming out of one door with coal and into another). On New Year's Eve the illustration is the Christmas Eve design. (Angels). Not an easy question to answer, but interesting nonetheless!

The film "Who Dares Wins"

9: What was heralded by the Radio Times to be the first science programme ever to appear on Christmas Day in 2000?

so the new section on books etc is the result of tens of thousands of RT readers telling them in the annual survey that thats what they want more of in RT - yeah right

I wonder how many wanted the return of full daytime listings

I hate filling in surveys never to be told the results of that survey

Until Ben Preston's head is surgically removed from his arse I won't buy the Radio Times apart from the Christmas edition. It is clear now that he only wants a certain type of person to buy the RT and it is no longer the wholly accessible, fully comprehensive TV guide that it once was. It is nearly £2 per week for a load of arty farty self indulgent crap that appeals to those who might read the Telegraph or Daily Mail. Only the TV guide in the Daily Mail that's free on Saturdays is much better.

What's also needed is more space for the sport channel listings too. 10 (and sometimes 11) squeezed into that small space now isn't good.

editor asks for comments on the new section but you can bet your house only pro comments will be published

the new section just seems to be a way of promoting its own services on books travel food etc
