Reading the T and C's for this year, it says if you cancel then the remaining issues will be refunded but it can be cancelled at any time under the direct debit guarantee. So i'm going to wait for the double issue to arrive then cancel. As long as it's before the 19/12 then it should be fine. It actually says on the letter that if you cancel it just to let them know so they don't chase you. It may need to be in writing but nothing more.
This first issue was good but personally i'm okay with the layout of the listings. I'd rather it be focused on the evening than on the day. It's been like that in the Christmas double issue for a while so it doesn't bother me.

A little off topic but the BBC are expected to launch their 2014 Christmas ident on 6th December this year, their earliest ever launch. Your thoughts?

I seem to remember someone saying the same last year......it didn't happen.

I'd be surprised if they did start that early but I wouldn't have a problem with it if they did.

There is a lot of talk of the BBC re-using their old idents this Christmas and as much as I would love that I think it is unlikely. The BBC likes to think it has moved on from the days when you had to talk using RP.
I think the BBC tried to incorporate the simpleness of previous idents last year but instead it just came across as cheap "/

The first use of the Christmas ident was 19:10 on BBC One on Saturday 7th December, or at least that is what I read haha.

Really? Well if they did it would make sense to start on the equivalent Saturday this year.

Think people mean just BBC2 re-using Christmas idents like they have been with the normal ones recently for the 50th anniverary.

Instead of spending more money the BBC could ask veiwers to vote on the idents of previous years. Then, using the top 12 they could have a countdown 'The 12 idents of Christmas' starting 14th Dec revealing the top one on Christmas Day and then sticking with that ident for the actual 12 days of Christmas

I think this would be a great idea if you are referring to BBC 2
I think BBC One would want to keep things fresh, to show they are moving forward.. although I would love to see Santa in his hot air balloon..

I seem to recall that last year the ident was revealed on the One show on a Friday and it was projected on he side of a building and then used from there. They may very well do the same this year as it seemed to work very well. I agree with the santa in the balloon one. Loved that one and the one with the snowman and santa hand drawn in the sky one.

Yes the revealing was dreadful though wasn't it, on there rehearsal it was clear, but when It came to it actually happening on the One Shiw, Fog had moved in, and you could hardly see it

The reveal was almost as big an anti-climax as the actual ident..
New exciting ideas please Beeb!!

I see Smyths have shown an advert. Not a Christmas one but it did feature a few toys making their way across a snowy scene in one part. Just waiting for a Toys R Us advert then we'll know it's coming.

I think you'll find Christmas Day is a Thursday this year and Boxing Day is the Friday!

Anyone else like me? In the fact that I look at all the Christmas listings in detail 20th-26th Dec, but start feeling sad looking at the 27th onwards (even a month before) because it will be a time when Christmas is over.

Sad or what

I have found the last few years Christmas TV poor compared to when I was young.

Some things as a youngster I remember I enjoyed and still miss.

I always hate they show "The Snowman" on Christmas day, because I miss it.

I would love the Father Christmas & Snowman shown on Christmas Eve Eve. Along with Carols from Kings

I used to love the 90 minute Christmas TOTP 2 as well on Christmas Eve. However only with Steve Wright (Personal Choice), I don't enjoy Mark Radcliffe anywhere near as much.

In the afternoon I used to always watch "the Santa Claus" and ? The one with Dudley Moore.

I think we all have these rather romantic memories of childhood TV being much better than it is now but a glance at Claire's Dad's schedules lays that Christmas Ghost to rest.

Love Carols from Kings ( Christmas Eve 3:00-4:30pm on R4) it has become a tradition over the years and is the perfect backdrop to preparing the Christmas veg.

Also think Wonderful Life and Scrooge are perfect films for the weeked before Christmas (i.e. 20/21 Dec) to get people in the festive mood.
