I noticed that 'This Is England ’90' will be aired next year.
I can't wait to watch that. I wonder if it will be on next Christmas?

Question; Do we think the rise of Netflix and Now TV is ruining the magic of watching movies on the TV at Christmas? (Skyfall etc is on netflix)

Not for me, I rarely buy DVD's have no interest in subscribing to Netflix, quite happy to wait for a film to come onto TV (I don't have or want Sky)

If it's a particular film I want to see earlier I'll go to the cinema but that's usually only once or twice a year.

I don't think "the big film" has really been a factor at Christmas for years now... I'd say its dying gargle was the BBC showing Titanic in 2000, although you could argue it was the Harry Potter film in 2004.

Going off previous years, we should get updated provisional listings on DigiGuide later today. They usually update these listings 2 days after the listings are posted. The next update will be a slight one on Monday followed by the confirmed schedules being revealed on Tuesday.

The updated schedules posted later today should give a clearer indication of what to expect though

Oh not that sh*te again. Okay, admittedly, I did like it the first 635 times I have seen it (on ITV alone) but not on Christmas day.

What sort of time can we expect the update to drop?

I think BBC's schedule will remain intact, perhaps swapping Midwife and Who.

Emmerdale will align with Doctor Who (6.15pm), Corrie with Midwife (7.15pm), and Downton with EastEnders/Miranda/EastEnders/MBB (from 8.30pm). ITV News at 8.15pm I predict.

And the film on the BBC slotted in - Puss in Boots?

Prediction:

Code:
BBC One
14.00 - Top of The Pops
15.00 - The Queen
15.10 - Puss in Boots / Madagascar III
16.45 - BBC News
17.00 - Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special
18.15 - Doctor Who: Last Christmas
19.15 - Call The Midwife
20.30 - EastEnders
21.00 - Miranda
21.35 - EastEnders
22.05 - Mrs Brown's Boys
22.40 - Michael McIntyre's Christmassy Christmas Show

ITV Christmas Day update:

17.50 - Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas
Based on the popular film 'Elf', which starred Will Ferrell, and the hit Broadway show 'Elf:The Musical' - the programme will star four time Emmy Award winner Jim Parsons. Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas will combine the humour and spirit of the beloved 2003 film. The special is an all-new retelling of Buddy's delightfully absurd, yet heartwarming story and blends the look and feel of stop motion animated specials with a modern day Christmas film.

Quite surprised by that. It seems ITV's schedule is rather fixed

15.00 - The Queen
15.10 - ITV News
15.20 - The Queen's Garden
16.20 - You've Been Framed
16.50 - Paul O'Grady's For The Love of Dogs at Christmas
17.50 - Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas
18.50 - ITV News
19.00 - Emmerdale
20.00 - Coronation Street
21.00 - Downton Abbey
23.00 - ITV News
23.15 - Birds of a Feather (rpt.)

The BBC will have to rejig around this surely? But how?

The update usually drops around 6pm ish depending on how big the update is. I'm at the work at the moment so unable to check, but DigiGuide rarely updates revised listings before 5pm
