Well done, look out for my PM so you may claim your prize.

Thanks to everyone who took part, same again next year?”

Congratulations Velixa!

Roll on next year's guess

It isn't unpleasant . Just not what I was expecting. It will probably really grow on me.

I've never been close with these cover guesses!!!

Congratulations Velixa! And, a huge huge thank you to Claires Dad for running this competition again. It really is a good bit of fun to get us in the mood for Christmas. So, now begins the race to be the first to get the RT! I'm not doing the early shift in the shop this year. So I have a feeling it won't be me. Then we can look forward to Velixa starting next year's thread. Oh, so much to do........so little time!

By the way, I'm a fan of the cover. It's simple but really nice.

Spoiler
Next years cover will be Sherlock Holmes themed?

If Judith Kerr is 91 the same age as RT you would have thought that they would have asked her last year on their 90th - what a birthday present that would have been for the old lady

I believe that the intention in 2012 was to have a double cover again, one of the Snowman and one of santa from the Snowman and snowdog, But because they looked a bit dissimilar it was decided to retain one (Santa) for the following year. It seems to odd to use drawings from the very same show two years running. So, they already knew the 2013 cover at the time the 2012 cover was chosen.

Watch the BBC1 trailer at http://www.theguardian.com/media/201...istmas-trailer at the end I think we see some idea of the ident and it looks good!

Am I the only one who really likes the cover?

In all honesty, it is just a magazine cover so no need to get in a panic over it But I like simple animation

Whilst the TTVG is a nice cover, it is a bit obvious and wouldnt make Claires_dad's comp too difficult. I like the RT cover, especially knowing the Judith Kerr factor. I think it is great that the RT cover is always Christmassy whilst being distinct.

That way when looking back through the archive, the different covers help define specific years or eras.”

Nothing controversial at all, my friend. I also quite like it, I can already see plenty who don't however each one to their own.

I'm more bothered about the magazine's contents.

I quite like the RT cover. I don't think it's one of the greats, but it's by no means bad and will certainly be distinctive compared to the other listings magazines.

I don't see the fuss about the Total TV Guide one - it's incredibly cheap-looking to me!

I can't believe no one guessed "Anne from Little Britain breastfeeding a tiger in a bow tie".

I mean, honestly, it's a classic Xmas image.

and that is meant to make people pick it up from the shelves in preference to all the rest?? It think it will go down as one of the all time weakest covers of the last 25 years. I won't even mind when the traditional detachment of the cover happens after a week's use... I'll be glad not to see it!

Well thats one of the vilest covers ever to grace the Christmas RT. Why is the little girl the same size as the tree?

Bitterly dissapointed - my year has been ruined.

And i bet RT costs £2.00 from January. They have completely treated their loyal customers with contempt. We have already had a 50% price rise since 2010.

But that year Wallace and Gromit were on the Royal Mail's Christmas stamps so I assumed we were meant to link the two

If you could do with the Digital Edition, and pay 79.98 for 12 months, It works at £1.54 a week.

I have the Digital version, but I was going to buy a paper copy, as I have had one every year, Since I was about 8, but tge cover does nothing for me

It’s that most wonderful time of the year again. No, not the John Lewis ad, but the BBC’s annual Christmas TV trailer. So what’s under the televisual Christmas tree this year? Well it includes the last episode of Miranda and festive specials of Citizen Khan, Mrs Brown’s Boys, Top Gear, Still Open All Hours and Strictly Come Dancing

There was a time I used to watch hours of TV at Christmas. Not any more. I don't like/watch any of the programmes mentioned (or Dr Who or Ask the Midwife, or Downton Abbey ) apart from Still Open All hours. I didn't mind the one-off they did, so I'll watch that.

I'm obviously one of the people the old repeats are aimed at!

I stopped buying the RT when it was put up to 1.80. It's a good read, but not that good.

I do, I must admit, buy the Christmas double issue, just cos I always have done, cos I enjoy reading the christmas one, and to get the radio details for over christmas.

I just hope I can be tempted back if they choose some of the excellent ideas put forward in your Competition but I fear they are more likely to do Mrs Browns Boys than a good old fashion Christmas Cover ”

and no its even worse than i feared so its the Total Tv Guide for ever now
better listings and at least they tried with their cover

But the RT usually has a cover that relates to a programme being broadcast. It felt more like a shameless way to screw money out of people.

In fairness, it's very rare that the Christmas cover relates to a programme.

So who will be the first to get their hands on a copy? The race is on.
