The legendary Christmas 1977 issue! How did you manage to keep the cover? It always disintegrated after two weeks in our home.

Lots of nostalgia references in this post......so after the Queens Speech....watch this.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNTeRlz6cuo

And before anybody has a go at me for being racist because Love Thy Neighbour is part of this show - it is what it is..............in full from 1972 - I particularly enjoyed the Harry Worth skit.

Plus Jimmy Tarbuck in his early 30's and a young Terry Wogan !

I think this was ITV's answer to a popular BBC Christmas Show - but I was only 4 so don't remember

just terrible news.why do they impose a 20p price increase every year since 2011? . who is willing to to pay £2 a week for a TV guide? thye are in danger of pricing themselves out of the market. sales will continue to fall.

I've just signed up for this 12 issues for £ 1 after it's ended I'm seriously going to think about changing my TV guide radio times is becoming far too expensive.

I suggest you try Total TV Guide - it's about as good as Radio Times and is almost half the price (£1.10 - and it's been that since sometime in 2012, IIRC).

I'm sure people want to watch an hours long programme on Battersea Dogs Home at 6pm on Christmas Day!

So Christmas Day 2014 has arrived.
This is my final post in this thread.
I would like to thank my fellow posters in this thread who have helped to make it so enjoyable and informative. I wish that I could shake all of you by the hand.
As that is unlikely to happen I hope that you will enjoy this yuletide classic from Slade that I alluded to in my 1st post in this thread.
By the way I would like to thank DS Forum Support for allowing these Christmas countdown threads to continue each year.
I hope that you all have a merry Christmas !

Well here we are, the half-way point in the period covered by the Christmas Radio Times. I finished reading through the magazine yesterday. I've been so busy in the run up to Christmas that I hadn't actually had the time to read through it until now. I noticed I missed some great programmes already but I've been able to catch them on iPlayer. I hope you are all having a nice Christmas.

Mine is about to fall off (the RT cover that is ) - indeed my copy of the mag has been cut incorrectly meaning the front and back cover is at an odd angle!

Re previous poster on that £1 deal, I have managed to get this offer a few times now over the last couple of years (Incl. an RT film guide) - around 40 copies for £12!

There's a 12 copies for £1 deal card in the new issue, but it makes clear they will now be rejecting applications from people who've taken similar offers in the past.

Oh, nothing out of the ordinary, just the usual stuff I enjoy but had been too busy to watch or too busy to notice the schedule had changed. I used iPlayer to catch up on the finals of both The Apprentice and Strictly Come Dancing, Not Going Out (loved it!), and from the radio section the Boxing Day French and Saunders show.

Having now read the RT I've set the Tivo to record my selections from the second week. Ultimately, these will be Professor Brainstawm, The Boy in The Dress, Still Open All Hours, Top Gear, Miranda, Last Tango in Halifax, and Mapp and Lucia.

I did get to see Doctor Who and thought it to be very good. I also enjoyed the Bruce Forsyth variety show, and finally the BBC 4 documentary about Saturday Night television shows.
