Sophie and Brendan's relationship
Becky245

It's obvious Brendan is in awe of Sophie, however some people say she isn't too fond of him... Why is it that people think that? I think they are a great pairing and he natural body language could lead you to think otherwise but there isn't another pro who shows how proud of their partner he/she is.

Some People Might Say that Its More A Case Of A Lack Of A Relationship.

That was meant as a joke, Sophie said so herself. I get the impression they get on very well together - in BBC videos, they can sometimes be seen chatting together in the background, they often praise each other, Sophie says she is loving every minute and doesn't want it to end - so I see no clues that they do not get on.

That was a joke. I saw it as a joke because that's the sort of thing I'd take as a joke myself.

I think she comes over as being a bit stand offish in general.
I had not heard that she was not that fond of him, but I could understand that in one way.

I recall she said she had a problem doing the more intimate type of dancing with him as well early days.
I do not feel he is in awe of her though personally.

I think their relationship is fine, very respectful of each other

During joint interviews and Brendan is getting wound up, Sophie looks as though she is wondering where she's left the stun gun.

i think she is a bit of a snob - not in terms of class particularly, but what she considers 'cool' or is willing to be seen doing. i remember her once saying she laughed at a lot of moves brendan used/suggested and vetoed others.

plus there's the whole really rather tiresome business with the unreconstructed males in her life and what she, her husband, her grandad and possibly the man from the papershop find 'acceptable' for her to do on a dance floor.

Why would Brendan be in awe of Sophie?

I think they get on ok; Brendan is clearly trying to 'big up' her ability as he wants people to think well of her so they can get to the final. The fact that they don't seem as "kissy-huggy" as some couples, is, I believe, Sophie's nature, which Brendan respects.

Erm, she mentioned her granny, not her grand-dad.

Hes way too patronising, like some creepy old man with a younger girl.

I've noticed when the judges have knocked other celebs the pros are always quick to defend their celebs - maybe not so vocally in front of the judges like Brendan but certainly back stage and on ITT.
Kevin was praising Susanna a lot last night.

It appears Sophie isn't a naturally tactile person unlike Abbey, Ashley etc., doesn't mean she thinks any less of Brendan.

Must admit - I like the fact she isn't gushing, mauling him etc., but do wish Brendan would calm down a little.

Of course they get on well together, it's obvious. I think they have a mutual respect for each other and have a great working relationship. The only ones who say she doesn't like him are people on here who like to make something out of nothing and who take jokey comments too seriously.

Really? The impression I got was that he was absolutely delighted this time to have a partner good enough to give him the freedom to really go to town on his choreography. That's about as far from patronising as you can get.

I think their relationship is just fine.....people are always looking to find some fault or another and ''chemistry'' is a popular theme to bash the couples with.

I think they get on ok. Not going to be a long term friendship I don't think but ok. Brendan does 'moon' over her a bit but he is just being Brendan really, never use one word when 100 will do & she is just being Sophie which is aloof.

I don't find him patronising at all.

I think he is a very focussed man. Highly successful people often are. So I can imagine his eyes might be so fixed on the objective that it he doesn't necessarily notice things in his peripheral vision or pick up on the human clues that help build rapport with others.

Or to put it another way - he's a blokey sort of bloke!

I think she just has a very jealous and possessive husband and so she is scared to show any fondness of anyone.
