Why so obvious song choices re Beyoncè week?
Especially for Sam. I could see her absolutely KILLING 'I Was Here' by Beyoncè but she's been given the suspected If I Were A Boy. I think Rough Copy would have slayed 'End of Time' as well. I know they aren't the best of known songs by Queen B but both songs have the potential of creating real moments this week - especially Sams.

Producers believe they know what the best songs are. Unless they were huge hits that they think everyone will remember then its a bad song choice

I would have liked to see Sam do Single Ladies, but Shelley already did.

I think Luke song is good.At first I didnt like it but now I think it is a good choice. It is a good song but not one of her most recognizable hits which is good because he can put his own spin on it .

To be honest whenever the theme is a specific artist, they never really do anything but the obvious choices of songs. So it's a shame, but I'm not shocked.
Ooh I just realised there's a cat!

The whole beyonce songs are very predictable.
Nicholas and Halo. RC and Survivor Luke and Best I Never Had Sam and If I Were A Boy I mean, really? -__- Even the elton songs are a bit iffy. Luke's and Nicholas' especially. |

Because the producers have about as much collective imagination and knowledge of current music as a cabbage

Copyright and clearance is the key.
Legally, the process can take months. Using songs that have already got clearance to be used is always the best and quickest option. And some writers/music producers demand a fortune for their songs to be used in TV and film. So this is why the same songs are used over and over again or new songs (but not the ones you'd like) are sung. |
