Some midweek numbers (up to the end of business on Monday):
singles: 1. Lily Allen 16k 2. Ellie Goulding 10k 3. Leona Lewis 9.4k 4. Bastille 9k 5. One Direction (sales unknown) albums: 1. One Direction 28.4k 2. Robbie Williams 28.15k (250 copies behind!) 3. Gary Barlow 22k 4. Olly Murs 5. Michael Bublé (Christmas album) 20k 6. Leona Lewis 10.3k --> Hope for a top 5 position in the singles chart. Gary Barlow (who is somewhere behind them) has been catching up ever since his Royal Variety performance last night. He's ahead of SOML if you combine his two versions. --> Another week at #1 for MM would be fantastic! I expected Robbie to be #1 by now, since he had his TV special last Friday, which must have lead to huge weekend sales. So I'm surprised MM is still ahead. They might pull ahead even more during the week, we'll see. But it could go either way. However, next week they should get back to #1, or certainly ahead of Robbie, as they have the X Factor performance on Sunday! Maybe Bublé's Christmas album gets #1, even though it's in its third year already... Who knows The British public seem to love Christmas albums a lot more than people here in Switzerland do, I'm always amazed each year ![]() )

Apparently Louis and Harry went shopping today. A few people saying it's not Louis but circling the man standing next to Harry whereas I thought it was Louis who was looking closer at the shoes? It looks like him from behind imo like his hair is quite long now. Anyways here's the pic...
https://twitter.com/button_katy/stat...56708624838656 Also apparently the boys landed in Spain and are performing on the voice tomorrow to be aired on the 18th. |

Gr8 updates!!....Don't think it will remain in the top 5 by Sunday cos Avicii has been gaining momentum so he could topple it out. But then again, SOML might stay in the top 5 if it remains above Bastille on itunes. Still gr8 tho, i reckon it has hopefully one more week to spend in the top 10( which will make it 8!!
)Bastille is somewhere behind SOML, so it could stay this way, even though they're now exactly in the same position on itunes. |

US sales (inofficial):
LW TW artist / album label power index % change 3 1 GARTH BROOKS PEARL 141,566 -26% BLAME IT ALL ON MY ROOTS 1 2 ONE DIRECTION SYCO/COLUMBIA 109,843 -79% MIDNIGHT MEMORIES 6 3 THE ROBERTSONS EMI NASHVILLE 109,311 -11% DUCK THE HALLS: ROBERTSON FAMILY 4 4 KELLY CLARKSON RCA 109,098 -18% WRAPPED IN RED -- 5 BRITNEY SPEARS RCA 108,461 -- BRITNEY JEAN 2 6 EMINEM SHADY/AFTERMATH/INT 81,522 -58% MARSHALL MATHERS LP 2 --> Very tight between #2 and 5, could all change tomorrow or Thursday when we get the official numbers from Billboard (I hope they change in One Direction's favour as they did last week...). These were the predictions: Garth Brooks (Pearl) 145-155k The Robertsons (EMI Nashville) 110-120k *Britney Spears (RCA) 110-120k Kelly Clarkson (RCA) 105-115k One Direction (SYCO/Columbia) 100-110k Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 75-80k --> Looks like One Direction (and Eminem) are the only acts that sold an amount at the upper end of the prediction. |

It seems Louis Walsh is still not over the JA versus 1D debacle:
http://uk.omg.yahoo.com/gossip/the-j...151545011.html It soooo "late" (in the pop world at least) after the fact that it surprised me tbh! On the one hand: I think JA has been generally unpleasant towards a lot of people, and haughty about his place in the music world compared to other X factor acts (I don't see it as a marketing strategy & an act, but I know some of you will disagree)... So I am glad to see someone stick up for 1D! On the other hand: I think people need to move on from this & forget JA exists if they don't like him, & go on liking him if they do... cause everything that needed to be said on the topic has been said (and moooore...). It seems that Louis Walsh really doesn't forgive & forget, I heard he slated Cher LLoyd's bratty behaviour once again during this season on Xtra factor... |

The 1D fans (along with the bieber fans) are getting some bad press again:
http://pigeonsandplanes.com/2013/12/...y-bieber-fans/ It seems that people can make up whatever rumour about Lorde now (because she made the mistake of"slating" 2 or 3 pop stars at the beginning of her career which was probably not her best idea)... I have seen some horrible fake quote about Demi Lovato that is spreading https://twitter.com/ilymcdonalds/sta...720768/photo/1, and too many people seem to just believe this sort of "quotes" and don't even need a source or any sort of proof before they start hating and lashing out. I have no clue how they could go about that, but I think there should be some sort of educational program about how to behave decently on the Internet (and not to believe everything we read!). |

I suppose that the SNL performance had not time to help boost the sales (with it being on saturday night ).It's still pretty good! |

Where were UAN and TMH in their second weeks on the US chart?
It never got higher than #4 though after the first week... However, in its 4th week, sales increased to over 90k (after their first SNL performance) TMH dropped to #3 on 176k sales (-67%, but that was the Black Friday week... Without that "effect", the drop might have been sharper). In its 3rd week, it was down to 92k (-48%). So that was over 800k after 3 weeks! --> If the manage to sell about the same amount this week or a little more (100-120k), they would almost equal TMH, but not quite. I think it's safe to say that in the US, TMH had a stronger start, but I also have a feeling their popularity was on a higher level in the US a year ago. They haven't quite managed to create enough interest outside their fan base. In the UK, they seem to have gotten a wider appeal in the last few months. |

Or he could play a scarecrow in the middle of a field if he still hasn't cut his hair ![]() Though to be fair he was OK in an over the top role like Marcel... But Louis (& Niall maybe?) seem to be better, and Zayn did wonders with no line & just his expression in the Macy's advert! Maybe it wouldn't be a total catastrophy. |

I'm getting myself more and more upset with Louis after seeing him in live performances. He deserves to be stripped of all solos if he can't perform them like he wants to be there. Just watched the TTD snl performance. Oh my gosh. Management have a word. He was singing with no enthusiam with he eyes to the ceiling. I'm embarrassed for him.
what will be done about this if they don't watch performances back and strive to improve. |
