I don't think his relationships are just for PR - IRRC Louis teased him about both Caroline and Taylor months before things were actually happening - but it's obviously a big consideration at least in the case of Haylor and Hendall. I think they learned from how much Harry and Caroline's relationship catapulted his profile bc of the age difference. The timing of both Haylor and Hendall at the time of their respective albums' release is too much of a convenient coincidence. Both 1D and Taylor had just released an album - Taylor is huge in the US but not quite so in the UK and 1D in the US despite their success hadn't (and still hasn't) really penetrated the US pop culture-wise. The Kardashians' reality show is declining in ratings - the show is on the E! channel and notice how much E! is covering and promoting 1D for this album. Arranged but real relationship is very common in the biz - Bieber and Selena's was one, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were set up by their respective publicists etc. I bet both Niall+Demi and Liam+Leona were explored as a possibility but my guess is that they didn't click so no go. They aren't going to fake a relationship - not bc it's above them LOL but bc it's much too risky w/ everyone and their dog having a camera on hand nowadays. That's why I don't think any of the boys' relationship are/were fake, especially the long-term ones. The only one that is possible is Haylor bc of how short it was - it's not impossible to fake a relationship for a month - but I don't think they would take such a risk especially w/ Taylor who's already an established and respected artist in her own rights.


I very much doubt Harry (or any of them) will go solo anytime soon and not just bc of contracts. Altho he's obviously the most popular, it isn't the way it was like w/ N'Sync for example w/ Justin being the fave of probably 80% of the fans, which unfortunately seems to be the mindset of the media since most of them probably grew up during N'Sync era. There's no way Harry would be able to play stadiums on his own. And tbh the way he currently sings I doubt he would be able to carry a solo tour for months on end. He sings from his throat and if he keeps singing like that he'd end up croaking like Rod Stewart - I don't understand why their coach didn't do anything about it

BTW, is it confirmed that MM will be the next single? If it is I hope it's just in the UK at least initially until they know how it is received - the UK is a safer testing ground since they are far more likely to get airplay no matter which single they release. But that's not the case in the US and I personally don't think MM will do well in the US and if it doesn't it could ruin the momentum they're having right now w/ SOML doing so well which is just such a god-sent since I think they were slowly losing momentum bc of their lack of airplay post-WMYB

Good point! I think the time is up for SOML in the UK, it's had a very good run, but it's not selling very well anymore. In the US however, it's still top 5 on itunes, airplay is rising, so it would be very unwise to kill the momentum. If they indeed chose to perform MM on the US X Factor (as some audio recording seemed to suggest), it might just be to give the album sales some boost, doesn't necessarily have to be the next single

With the switch to Through the Dark for SNL, maybe their choice for the next single isn't as set as we used to think.

It's too bad acts don't seem to release 2 singles simultaneously because this album is diverse enough (pop, rock & folk vibe), and all 3 directions deserve to be showcased IMO.
If they go for Through the Dark (or happily), it's just one of the 3 sides of the album that will have been heavily showcased, and it almost feels like a "misrepresentation" of what's on the album, doesn't it?
At the same time, this type of music is very popular with people & on the radio right now, and those songs are on the album...

I suppose with the streaming of the album (you can probably find all the songs on Youtube), people can know in advance what they choose to purchase, and I am thinking a bit too old school (like when we used to buy albums based on 1 or 2 singles and the rest of the album was a surprise -could be a good one or a bad one sometimes).

Actually you make a lot of sense re Harry. There was also the affair with Lucy Horabin (the DJ)which in no way was PR as Harry got a lot of bad press for it and don't think Modest would have used this toshut up gay rumours. As I said previously I change my mind from one day to the next and it doesn't help when I read Blind gossip who have a blind about him at least once a month but then they know they bring in the hits and sometimes they could be read as fiction from tumblr!

I also agree about Harry's voice and it is what got me into the band in the first place, I love his tone and his energy and enthusiasm on stage. I see it in Luke on this year's x factor and he too will strain his voice when he shouts so much. I just think when Harry sings within his range he is perfect. I also thought most pop singers sang from their throats and it was just MT or opera that sang from their chest I know it is a completely different style of singing and believe it isn't something you can learn overnight, I remember an interview with Charlotte church saying it took her months to retrain her voice for her pop career, Maybe Harry just needs to keep working on his abdominal muscle exercises to strengthen his lungs

Well most of pop singers these days like Rihanna and the Biebs don't sing much they sing some of the unchallenging parts and let the backing vocals sing the rest. But I think there's a different expectations for graduates of singing shows. And for real power singers like say Kelly Clarkson it makes a huge different to sing correctly - she used to shout too early on bc she wanted to sing rock-style and her fans kept worrying that she'd destroy her voice bc she sounded so rough most of the time. She's much better now technically and the quality of her singing improves so much. If you sing correctly you'll get bigger range and be able to project your voice better. Harry's fine when he sings w/in his range but his range is limited bc he doesn't sing properly and thus resorts to shouting for notes out of his current range. That isn't sustainable in the long run especially if you're a solo artist singing by yourself for 2 hours straight. Most rock vocalists actually do end up blowing out their voice bc of their style of singing.


Hi there I actually do think Louis and Zayn are having the hardest time dealing w/ constant breach of privacy and bounderies that comes w/ fame - they're the least easy going of the bunch and they aren't people pleaser like the other 3 especially Harry who seems to have been specifically made in the lab for this But so far they all seem to get the job done so I don't think there's anything to overly worry yet, hopefully.
