I think he genuinely likes it (even if the tweet was probably a smart thing to do PR wise to allay the fans who were clamouring for it on twitter and put paid to these rumours). It feels like people want so much for them to be feuding but I actually think the five of them get each other better than any of us will. There were some tense moments for a while there where I did wonder if they all hate each other. But I think the four boys get Zayn's decision (Liam's interview on BBC R1 this morning affirms that) and I think given the shady politics, they all likely knew about this for a while (Simon's crap about planning this for a long time; Zayn's obvious unhappiness with the direction of the music and everything else which was evident to anyone with two eyes for a long time). It just played out the way it did, perhaps for maximum publicity (which it did and continues to bring all parties involved). Louis also told Capital to quit making up lies that Drag Me Down is a diss track, so I hope that him and Zayn have resolved that dodgy Twitter fight.

Really digging the instrumental on the verses of DMD. Although I'm not a huge fan of the production in the rest of the song, the song is growing on me.

Thanks for the link to that BBC interview.

DMD up to #35 on US Pop Radio after only 3 days!!

First midweek numbers (UK):

1 One Direction (41.5k)
2 Little Mix (16.4k)
3 Sigma feat. Ella Henderson (16k)
4 Calvin Harris & Disciples (15k)
5 Years & Years (14.1k)

--> That includes Friday-Sunday, but is without the streaming from Apple Streaming and Spotify. Remember, 300k streams (as they had on Friday) equals 3k sales. Of course, Little Mix might catch up a little during the week due to very high streaming, but most probably not enough. Looking almost certain for #1 and quite good for a decent final number (70k+) on Friday

To me that looks like a big gap. Especially as we are told that DMD has done brilliantly and broken records with streaming.

Good on the boys.
Cant wait for the next album. I hope it's a healthy mix of TMH and MM/F

Nice one. Thought there weren't anymore records to break.

Great news all around
Those stats are very impressive (especially when you think that it's the 1st single from their 5th album!).
I also think that this type of release doesn't usually lead to big 1st week numbers (unless you are Beyonce ).

I am sure that the naysayers will say that the sales aren't that impressive for the "biggest boyband in the world"... But they have been prophesying the impending demise of 1D since the X Factor, so no big surprise there.

Excactly Maybe it's time to bring up the "Is the hype around One Direction starting to fade"-thread again... It was started in 2012

Just found out that FOUR currently stands at around 589k copies sold in the UK. Not far from double platinum (600k)!

I'm watching GMA (on a really low quality livestream...). Man, they sound soooo good, their vocals are nearly perfect! And they seem to have soooo much more fun and energy than a year ago

Btw: Louis confirmed he's going to be a dad. Well, it didn't come out of his mouth, but the interviewer congratulated him on the news and he accepted it

I haven't watched it, so I hope that they'll upload it on their website (in HQ).
Since the 1D team is very strict about controlling the access to Drag Me Down, I expect that we won't find The GMA very easily on Youtube...

Twitter is in an uproar because of the baby news (which we all expected to be true, didn't we?)... And everyone (or the Larry shippers only?) seems to think that Harry is sad about the news... But the 1D fandom is the best at overreacting, so I'm not sure I should believe them.

Yeah, they posted Harry's and Niall's faces while/after Louis was confirming the news. Niall looked as if he was about to laugh out loud and Harry didn't seem too happy.
But we all know how the fans take pictures out of context an over-analyse them. And Harry was very quiet during the interview, but that's nothing new either... Liam did most of the talking, Louis had to speak because he was asked about the baby and then the interviewer said "Harry, you are very quiet", which - to some people - served as proof that Larry is indeed real

The GMA performance could boost the US sales though & keep them at #1 a bit longer, couldn't it?
I suppose that, with no big promo in the UK, not that much more can be done. As long as the radios play the song, it will do as well as it can do.
