I made a mistake here (can't edit anymore), MM is not 10% but 14k (3%) above TMH in last year's Christmas week... Still a good result, especially considering the overall state of the market (-17%).

From another forum:

Quote:
“France :

Week 1 : 42.800
Week 2 : 20.300
Week 3 : 19.800
Week 4 : 20.500
Total : 103.400 --> 3rd consecutive platinum album

Total album sales : 119.100 (UAN) + 181.350 (TMH) + 103.400 (MM) = 403.850.”

Wow with sales like that the BRits would be stupid to ignore them

I agree. I would love for them to win 'Best Group' so that posters can't say it was just fan voted or made for them. I don't see anything wrong with either but it would be nice for them to receive one of the more 'normal' awards.

Well done Andi for putting a certain poster in their place with FACTS! This person really believes that 1D are all about media hype

It's strange that people can't seem to realise that the boys are big sellers, but I suppose when you have a bias against something, you just do your best to support your theory & might disregard some of the elements that don't support it.

1D spend so much time in the album charts (even if it's not in the top 10 all year long, they are constantly selling), and they are selling their singles worldwide, so even if it's not #1, it's still selling more globally than UK-centric or Europe-centric acts. It should be something obvious IMO...

Of course compared to the boybands from the past, their sales seem "small", but the current sales climate should also be taken into account.

You mean in the thread about the best selling boy bands of all time? I LOVED compiling that post
I was surprised myself how easy it was to prove they really sold over 35 million record. I'd say it's even between 40 and 45 million right now, from all the information we have with official sales numbers and certifications.

And as I wrote, the numbers are growing by almost 700k to 1 million each week...

I think people slowly start to realise that they are more than just hype, they can back it up with actual sales and numbers.
However, I'm not looking forward to the day they announce some kind of break/end of One Direction, all those people coming forward and claiming they've known from the beginning they wouldn't make it or last long... It won't matter when that day is, even if it's only in 5 years, people will rejoice and boast

That was a different person though Zeus555 dissed One Direction in the first place, but he has from the beginning; zeze88 defended WL, but she's not a fan of One Direction either, has stated this a couple of times

Some people react when their favourites are attacked, but strangely don't seem to understand that fans of other acts do the same.
I find it strange that people who like one boyband or another X Factor act aren't more respectful (in their behaviour at least) towards other "non-credible" acts in general. You'd think they'd have read enough rubbish about something they like & would be careful not to display the same attitude.
But I realise that's not how things work

At least most music snobbs are consistant in their haughty behaviour

I always get those two mixed up, maybe because their posts read the same

That is hilarious! Obviously not the first watch with the dinghy and fishing rod but one for Hayley to watch with the Wanted poster

I have just watched the fan cut version of This Is Us!
It didn't feel that much longer than the normal version, the new scenes were well integrated. There was a lovely scene about the boys and their professional entourage (Paul, Lou...).
But I don't know the cinema version by heart, so I can't say for sure what else was different

Concerning the bonus available

there are some that we have already seen:
-the "going home" snippets for the 5 boys that we saw
-2 extended scenes: "Harry & Liam go fishing" & "This is us" (=the boys about each other)
-"The 1D Family" (about the fan community mainly)
-"before the show" (about the silly things going on before a show)
-The Best Song Ever video
-The intro short film for the concerts that we have seen called "Up all night!"

Some that I didn't see previously:
-"I didn't do it" (about the boys attemtping to shoot something for Japanese TV for the 1st time, and it didn't go very smoothly... I feel for that japanese crew tbh)
-"Hold that pose" (about the boys and their wax figures)

So much for the Christmas break. The boys were out in London yesterday and today apparently shooting more of the forthcoming Midnight Memories video.

Well, it goes to show how no one knows a thing about their schedule: the gossip website and the gossip spread on twitter is obviously just guess work, but not reliable.
I suppose it also means that this 3 months break might be gossip too.

New rumour from the unlinkable website: http ://www.un realitytv.co.uk/x-factor/one-direction-niall-horan-surgery-knee-next-week-hell-hospital-10-days/

Quote:
“It’s been reported today that One Direction singer Niall Horan is to undergo surgery next week on his knee.
He’ll jet to the States for the operation, and it’s expected that he’ll stay in an exclusive clinic for ten days.
A source close to 1D said, “Niall has battled this problem since he was a child. His knee dislocates and it is very uncomfortable.”
To The Sun’s TV Biz, the insider added, “He’s had physio sessions for years but the pain persists so surgery is the best solution to have him fully fit and ready for the demands of a long tour.”
[...]
But of the surgery, the paper adds, “He is in good hands for the surgery. SIMON COWELL’s record label Syco is to foot the bill for all travel and medical costs.””

It's not impossible of course -though I don't know why they believe that Simon will foot the bill, the boys must have a health insurance... then again maybe it all works very differently in the UK.
However, don't most knee operation require a long physio therapy afterwards too?

Then again, if the boys have a "long" break & it hurts him a lot, maybe it makes sense.

I am sure the operation can be done here privately too so not sure about the USA link but maybe it is a case of money buys the best surgeon for the job and as he is young he will recover quite quickly. I would imagine this is ideal time while they have a break and I agree with you re health insurance but that wouldn't cover flights etc to another country

I just finished the film for the third time. (Though one was at the cinema).

I love the fishing scene with Harry and Liam. Both the normal and extended versions are so funny.

My mum and dad watched it too and thought it was really good. They both said Niall was their favourite. Lol!

Knee surgeries can be quite complicated, so I understand he might need to see a specialist. And the timing for the surgery is perfect, as this is the only time in their career so far (and for the rest of 2014 anyway) when they have a few weeks/months off. And even if he's not 100% ok at the start of the tour, it won't matter, as they don't dance anyway He'd just have to pace himself, not jump around too much
