Not yet, will get the news a little before 7.

BSE has re-entered the top 40 at #34 this week; after spending 10 weeks in the top 40 and 12 weeks outside (but always top 80), the re-entered due to the giftcard effect this week.

I wonder if Midnight Memories are back in the top 40 as well?!

And SOML still top 10 (#9) in its 9th week! Things are looking good for yet another week, as it's still in the top 10 on itunes

Ah ok. Thanks.

Great news about BSE and SOML chart positions. I'm especially pleased that SOML is still top 10. Didn't you previously state that it's their longest chart run in the top 10?

Yay!

I know that best selling boybands thread was mentioned in here the other day but I was just looking at that list and it really is amazing that 1D are on it and so high up considering the era the other bands were around (or at their peak) and the difference in music sales now.

Who are #1 & #2?
If it's Robbie & Gary, I suppose they can thank the discounted price... Edit: so it is them!
But Beyonce could be a good candidate (at full price, like 1D ).

Midnight Memories has been in the top 3 for 5 weeks, it's doing better than the previous albums both in chart position and in figures, so things are great!
I don't know how long they can remain in the top 5 & what new releases the new year is bringing, but they have every reason to be happy IMO.

Apparently Robbie sold 91k on #1, Gary 79k on #2. Depending on how much they are behind Gary and how much Emeli Sandé has sold, it will be VERY close in the year-end charts...

Yes, you're right, forgot about their discount prices... Beyoncé is #4.
UAN had 2 weeks top 5 and 7 weeks top 10; TMH had 4 weeks top 5 and 10 weeks top 10.

What would you predict that she sold then? And do you think will beat her?

I can't believe december's top 3 album sales has been the exact same people, just the running order changing! Well done to all 3 acts
I was really expecting Beyonce to be a game changer in the UK too, but I was wrong.

And it's nice to see the boys' sales improving in certain countries & remaining stable in others. I keep on being happily surprised!

Well, she's also back in the charts (#31), so she must have sold 10-15k. That would mean they needed to sell 65-70k to get it. If they are really close to Gary (like 75-78k), she would have needed to sell over 20k which is rather unlikely at #31 (and it's the week AFTER Christmas, at least half of it was after).

By the way, Midnight Memories is #46, which is a new peak in the UK. And WMYB is back in the top 100 (#98), due to gift cards as well

From what I am reading, it seems the Emily Sande album took the same approach as the Robbie & Gary ones: the discount price. I suppose her label really want her to get the best sales for this year. At least, it makes sense to have a discount price on an album that's more than 1 year old -unlike the Robbie & Gary ones that really seem very new for that IMO.

I think it looks good on the boys not being on sale tbh. If they end up being very close to Gary's sales then it definitely comes off well considering his is discounted so much.

He is A&R at Sony so he seems to be legitimate but I will still wait for confirmation from OCC or MusicWeek.

Yeah I know....I also took it with a pinch of salt cos of how generally low the sales were this week. I guess we'll see; Even though they don't get the top spot, #2 will be RAD!!

According to something I read on the LM thread on the MF, here are the sales for Midnight Memories:
3- One Direction 75,822 (684,754)
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...postcount=2335
No source, but I don't see why they would post inaccurate figures...

So it does look like the boys really did catch up & take the lead at the last minute

can't believe they haven't officially confirmed it yet... please tell me it's in the bag... the suspense is killing me... *although no2 bestseller of the year is still phenomenal*
