From what I read on twitter, the boys are on their way back from the US right now... Do they have other things lined up in the UK as far as promo goes?
There was some european promo lined up too, so they will be busy anyway.

I think they are in Europe this week (Italy, Spain, France?) and then in the X Factor final (Saturday or Sunday, no idea when... Probably Sunday though).

And if they indeed pre-recorded MM for the US X Factor, it might be shown this week.

By the way, SOML has been climbing the US itunes chart ever since their performance on SNL. Up to #5 now.
And some great radio updates recently. Not only are they in the top 20 of Pop Radio, they also get some decent updates in Hot Adult Contemporary. Overall audience is now over 40 million. That's the highest one of their songs got since WMYB!

From what I read on twitter: they got a good reception from the adults SNL viewers... I hope it's true!

No idea... I loved Through the Dark live, it would be a good idea.

But I love MM too... And it would showcase the album's diversity after SOML.

I think Through The Dark would be really good and also show others that there actually 1D songs where Harry doesn't have the most solo parts.

Like you say though Midnight Memories is very different so that could be good too.

i guess the fans are just so used to the boys' over-all image and "unspoken mantra" being "natural" and "not trying hard"


over-all this is the impression i get with their songs and i think it's cool... except i think they have to make an allowance with harry as he usually gets the more difficult chorus parts... a song can not stay in the same plane, it has to go somewhere and more often than not, when it calls for angst, it goes to harry...


i'm in two parts about the choruses of SOML being divided say between harry and zayn... coz as much as it will take some strain off harry, it may also make the song uneven... i mean it's already uneven as the other parts can be sung in the "cool" way described above but at least you know when the chorus kicks in (coz harry leads all of them)... besides, if zayn gets a chorus like that, who knows how he'll subvert it to sound "cool for school", "slick" and "effortless"... *not that i say one style is better than the other as i really also enjoy harry's from the gut style*

See I though that too and posted about it a while ago but most in here said that was for X Factor US so I assumed I got my wires crossed. Also I think it would be hard to have a pre-recorded performance for the UK final because it's normally in Wembley.

i really enjoyed TTD performance... can't wait to see it again after a few more practice and performing it becoming second nature to them!!

lolz!! it could have been your post i remembered... but a live performance of either *TTD or MM* at wembley is very good proposition for me...

I used to think that MM was their next single because they had started performing it (though not officially yet, but they have pre-recorded it for the US X Factor), but the fact that they suddenly sang Through the Dark makes me think they might just be showcasing different songs from the album.


There was a poll on google+ about our favourite songs from the album, so they could also use that tool.

I don't know if I got this right, so correct me if I'm wrong:
Zayn's voice is cool & great & smooth & very R'n'B, and his high notes are impressive, but the chorus needs a more impactfull/gutsy kind of attack that Harry delivers well...?

Even though You & I is winning somehow I don't see that as the next single. I do like it but would personally prefer TTD or MM.

in this particular song... coz it's folky... when the atmosphere is of long drives, huddling round a campfire, maybe drinking beer or tea or whatever, harry's raspy notes in that chorus is more suitable...

I hope it's not "You & I" as well... We've already had the Ballady type of single (it was midtempo, but it still had a ballad feel).


I hope for "Happily", "Through the Dark" or MM... I think they are all very catchy and show the new directions 1D are going for.

I love "Diana", "Better than Words" & "Little White Lies", but those are more pop (I think...?), and we have already had BSE as a pop single.
We also have had SOML as the folky but ballady song.
So either they want to showcase the rockier sound (MM), or since the folk vibe seems to be doing wonders for them, they go for TTD (or "Happily"? it's so catchy!).

I think TTD would be a very strong choice. When I first listened to the whole album that was one of my favourites and I thought it was very catchy immediately compared to MM which for me was certainly a grower. On first listen I wasn't too keen but it is now imo one of the best tracks on the album.

Harry seems to get a lot of criticism when he does SOML. From fans more than anyone else weirdly. I think the way he sings it suits the song perfectly. It's supposed to sound a bit shouty and raspy. When he sings loudly, that's just what his voice sounds like, it's not straining, I don't know what he's supposed to do

Louis often seems to get solos that don't play to his strengths and he looks increasingly uncomfortable delivering them.

Zayn has forgotten how to enunciate, and his performances are so laid back these days it just comes across like he's totally uninterested.

Niall was better than usual on SNL though, and Liam is usually very consistent anyway.

in fairness, i think the fans who are so hard really mean well in their heart of hearts


and in the same vein and as a zayn boy *man*, i have to admit it is not an unfair assessment... maybe it's just exhaustion... but i hope they all get enough rest over the xmas period... and i also hope their vocal coaches instill in him specially to try to capture in every performance the "oomph!!" he gave whilst recording their album in random hotel rooms and such places... coz his tone is just divine.

I can see what Rawr mean with the lazy diction.
I have already said in the past that I can't fault Zayn's voice but wish he could try to put a bit more energy (or "oomph", I like that!) to his singing.


I also find him more and more R'n'B in his singing: Doesn't he seem to add little runs more often?

i agree happily is quite catchy... but the song's subject matter might hold it back


i actually like "strong" and "right now" for the zayn parts that are so pleasing to me but the verses might be too "laid-back" and too "cool for school" to be that strong singles...
