I fear you're right... But still, 3 of the 5 nominated are breakthrough acts and Arctic Monkey have already one this category twice. I can understand they didn't give it to One Direction last year, being only on their second album etc. But after having the biggest selling album of the year, getting more and more crossover appeal, they should seriously consider giving to them, in my opinion

(I know OWOA went to number 1 but outside of the fanbase a lot of people didn't like the cover).”

I also think Best British Single is fan voted, at least it's always been.
Shame SOML isn't nominated, I'd even have preferred they'd chosen BSE instead of OWOA. Even though I like OWOA, soooo many people loathe that song and I don't want to imagine the hate they'd get if they won an award for it (which is very possible, if it's fan-voted, regardless of the actual song...) :S

The Mastercard award is the best album one (http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...91&postcount=1), aren't the sponsored ones the fan voted ones usually?

The album award hasn't been fan voted in recent years (ever since I've followed the Brits).

Here's an article about these other two awards they might win that have been mentioned here: http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/09/one-di...eiled-4256482/

Don't know whether there will be another Global Success Award though... Thought it might have been a one-off thing last year to get One Direction at least one award

By the way, I found out the Best British Single Award nominations are solely based on sales in 2013. Like it or not, but OWOA was their biggest selling song in 2013 (474k sold, 8th highest selling British Single). SOML "only" sold 347k, BSE did 328k.

I think it is just down to the sales. I'm actually surprised they were nominated for this category, probably the toughest one. Those other groups had critically acclaimed albums last year.

I think they stand a chance of winning the Best British video?

I thought the songs were nominated on sales in a certain time scale hence it being OWOA

Here's an acoustic version of Happily.

I really liked it. It shows that Louis' voice is the main vocal throughout the first chorus and then Niall's on the second which I hadn't even realised to be honest.

nowadays, i open MM straight to "strong" as i love the sequence "strong", "happily", "right now", (sometimes skip LBD, )"through the dark" and "something great"... then everything is on repeat so the next cycle starts with BSE as it should...

the song i catch myself singing-along to the loudest and with more emotion is "something great", followed by "happily"

The most played songs on the album for me are:
SOML, Diana, MM, Strong, Happily, Through the Dark, Little White Lies, Better than Words, Does he know? & Half a Hear
I looove the verses in Don't Forget where you Belong, I got used to the chorus but I still find it less good than the verses (great lyrics & melody to me), so I listen to that song quite a lot despite my initial feelings about it

I don't really sing along that much, but I find myself dancing along quite a few of them (even in my car). If I can't help dancing on a song, it's usually a sign I am hooked

Tbh, I think I tend to start the album at either Diana or SOML depending on my mood (& I have heard SOML much more than the rest of the album)...
Least played song Little Black Dress for me too

I think that the vocals need to be re-recorded for a real accoustic version, it would sound a lot better.
The vocals go well with the song as it is on the album, but this accoustic version isn't to my liking either .

Yep, it's sales. So UAN will be their highest charting album. TMH and UAN will be in the top 30, as #31 has already been revealed with sales of 820k.
