It won't affect them at all. It will be the quality of the music and whether they are still happy together as a group. This past week has been a total overreaction. Especially in America. It will be forgotten about soon I am sure. I reckon we will see Liam do what Zayn and Louis do though and hardly come on Twitter. Only Niall and Harry to go! The younger immature fans have only have themselves to blame though if that happens. Overreacting to everything from Hendall, to Duck Dynasty Gate to sending people death threats to freaking out if they even look at another woman. They are men in their early 20's. They are going to date. These young girls have a lot of growing up to do.

I agree with you. I think a lot of people have blown it out of proportion, the only reason it's still being talked about is because people who do not like him anyway will not let it go. Hasn't affected their brand in anyway, don't see how it could affect album sales.

I think this will have longer lasting ripples than you think. Being accused of homophobia (especially considering how Liam worded his tweet, though I am sure it's not the case) is something serious. They should have tackled the issue straight ahead.
The fact that it was a well known youtuber doesn't help: the youtuber community has talked about it in videos, and still is, so it's not going away like other harmless things. Those youtubers used to help the boys... What now? No idea.
The US is their biggest market, the lack of reaction of their team leaves me speachless. I don't want to believe that it's Liam dragging his feet, but you never know.

And the fact that it's just Liam involved and not the 5 of them doesn't change anything IMO... It's still potencially damaging to all of them -however unfair that is.

But the fans & their over-reactions are also to blame: sending deaths all the time threats is completely ridiculous! I think that they might even end up crippling the boys with their behaviour, giving them a bad name.

This is all a worst case scenario, and I hope it won't come to that. I just wish the boy & their team were more pro-active when it comes to cyber-bullying messages and tackling this sort of misunderstanding.


However, the new album won't come out right away, so they have some time to mend some bridges (though they need to start the mending at some point IMO!!! Maybe they could even do something with the Trevor project or something... Yes it's an obvious gesture, but some people, who have been hurt, would appreciate it).

And the quality of their music will matter too for radios to play them, that's also very true!


Maybe Liam not using twitter that much isn't a bad thing tbh... It's not the 1st time that he slips on twitter IMO, and he doesn't seem to have the armour needed to protect himself emotionally.

I understand what you're saying, but there's a difference between being accused of Homophobia and actually being homophobic. If Liam had come on and said I love Duck Dynasty and I agree with all their thoughts and everything they've said recently then yes they he would be homophobic.
He didn't say that.

When he said about Family values he may have just been commenting on the fact they are a close knit family who obviously care for each other. Even Homophobic redneck idiots like the stars of the show can care about their family members. It's not being homophobic to point that out. As I said to you a few days ago, I like some Rap Music. It doesn't mean I like them swearing, being Anti Gay or I disrespect women like some rappers do. I listen to the music and when they do those things I think they sound like idiots but it can still be a good record. I am not Homophobic nor do I disrespect women.

As some American posters pointed out, Family values obviously has a different connatation in the US to the UK. Liam probably didn't realize that but the people who were offended by it should look at it from his point of view too. If he was homophobic he certainly would not tweet things like I love our gay fans like he did.

As for the group doing something with The Trevor Project, it would be great if the guys could do something to help and promote them anyway. It would be wrong for them to go just because of this recent tweet because it implies Liam is a homophobe. When he clearly isn't.

As for the lack of a statement it could be that management have just decided to say nothing more so that nobody else gets wound up about it.

It didn't come as a shock to most people though especially on twitter, even their fans. Like I could remember when JLS announced theirs, the buzz on twitter was craaaaaazy. Oh well, maybe people kinda expected it due to the "dropped" articles that came out about a month ago.

Oh dear, It makes me kinda dread the day 1D will also split!!... Hope they make enough money to sustain them for a long long time before that day comes, so they don't have to go on those insufferable "reunion" shows!!
