Albums:

1 One Direction 124,535 (Total: 361,893 --> YTD #12 after two weeks!)
43 One Direction [UAN] 8,556 (1,008,968)
47 One Direction [TMH] 7,872 (879,446)

Singles:
2 One Direction 40,229 (Total: 252,573)

For albums: Is platinum 300k or 600k units sold?
What about for the singles?

The relatively low beginning for SOML will probably prevent it from being nominated for the Brits: the Brits had a category with the best selling singles, but I am affraid it takes a song with both a good 1st week sales & longevity... SOML has longevity, but I am not sure it will be enough to catch up with the others.


Those sales are impressive anyway!

UK Sales for albums:

Platinum 300K

Gold 100K

Silver 60K

For Singles:

Platinum 600K

Gold 400K

Silver 200K.

I don't think chart placings have any affect on the Brit nominations (apart from the best selling awards).There are often artists nominated who haven't had records out for years like Kate Bush! maybe they could win best song or something.

Certifications in the UK:
Albums: 60k Silver, 100k Gold, 300k Platinum --> TMH soon 3x Platinum!
Singles: 200k Silver, 400k Gold, 600k Platinum


In term's of SOML's longevity: I have a feeling it might be their last week in the top 10. If not this week, then certainly next week is going to be the last one. It's slowling going down on itunes (#4, not too far ahead of #9, but way behind #1). Just in time to make room for the next single (or whatever song they choose to perform on the X Factor final next Sunday). Airplay in the UK is also decreasing slowly.

Yeah it might be. They shouldn't worry though. For singles that's great sales and like you say the album
has surpassed even their wildest expectations for the sales in the UK in just 2 weeks!! Once it reaches January sales in the UK really decline. Did you see my post about Louis above. What are your thoughts?

I think they will eventually get to Gold with SOML. Rather than with BSE, which is on 300k as of this week.
If they do another 35k this week, then 25k next week, they're already on 310k.
Little Things for example had sold 223k at this point last year (release date was similar to SOML, 2-3 weeks later). But it went to 400k sometime in April, and that was way after the release of Kiss You and OWOA.
I can see something similar happening with SOML, seems to be a well-liked song by many people, might be played on the radio for a while...

By the way, WMYB is on 900k right now and is surely getting another boost next Saturday, when Luke Friend is going to perform it in the X Factor final!
They might eventually get that 1 million seller, probably not before the end of next year though

Harry's hair is really a mess, I hadn't noticed how much of a mess it really was... but it's out of control!

It seems the boys need some coaching & re-training about finding the camera and looking at it (they could do it during the X factor, couldn't they? ), Liam is the only one who seems on point with that all of the time.

But I have noticed the unfocused look & inability to look at the camera that Louis displays now that I am looking for it...

Errrm Somebody reported my comment earlier comment about one of the band members to the mods. I got an email saying that what I said was potential Libel along with a Warning. I in no way said it was the case I just said it was the impression I got. So thanks to whoever reported it. (Insert missing Roll Eyes Smiley)
