I love the diverse sound of the last album, and I really hope that they won't go only rock (or punk rock). Actually, I hope that it will be as diverse & reflect the boy's different tastes.
I read somewhere that Liam or Louis said that he thought that guys might like their next album better -though it's just in the phase of writing & the tracks haven't even been selected for the album yet, so who knows really what direction it will take? Just because 2 of the boys wrote a couple of rockier or more "masculine" songs doesn't make it the next album's direction for sure, does it?
I really hope that they won't forget who is most likely to buy their next album, & guys aren't IMO (even if they like the music, many are just put out by the boyband image...). They should make an album they like (that's an important point), but not go for a new fanbase & completely forget about the current one.
I also hope that MM flopping will show them that they can't just drop singles like that, especially after their long time off & with no promo... They can't keep on relying on the fanbase to buy whatever they release (especially when most of us already have the album!). They need to be more careful when they choose singles so that it appeals both to the fans but also to casual music listeners.
Not that MM flopping is a big deal (3rd single from an album that sold very very well...), but it might do them some good to reflect on that for their next single release strategy.
