Strange problem developed recently. Whilst NO recordings are being made, when watching a live broadcast in chase mode, (maybe up to 20 minutes behind), viewing suddenly jumps to current live program. The lost part of the program is not in the buffer, althought the part we had watched in catch-up is still there. The jump is not to a new program, it is to the same program we were watching. This has happened several times, and there were definitely no recordings being done, instant record not being used either. Hard disk has about 35% free.
First time it happened we assumed it was a one-off, but this seems to be a regular occurance now. Anyone got any ideas please?

You could try unplugging from mains for around 10mins just incase it's static build up causing it.
If that doesn't ressolve it then the next steps would be a factory reset and as a last resort formatting the hard drive.

This sounds very similar to a problem I had with a 9150T.
The only solution that worked for me was to re-format the disk. Don't know whether there is any alternative for a 9200.

Does the point where it jumps coincide with a recording starting or stopping? If so tell us exactly what the box was doing in terms of recordings when this happened. Also can you confirm what you mean by chase mode: either you have selected the recording from the list of available programs and started playing it whilst the program is still being recorded (which I call chase) or you have pressed pause and then at some later point started watching again (which I call time shifted)?

Sorry if I used the wrong meaning for "chase". I guess my situation is similar to "time shifting", but not using the pause button in this example.
The box had been switched on for some time, watching live broadcasting only. The BBC1 program (Robbie Williams at the Palladium) was on whilst we were out the room for 10 minutes. On returning we rewound the program to the point we had last seen (which was not the beginning of the program), and continued to watch it. At about 20:50 (definitely NOT 20:30), 10 minutes before the scheduled end, the screen briefly blanked, then the Nelson Mandela tribute program appeared. It seemed to be about 5 minutes into that program. This program was not originally scheduled on the EPG of course, and we had not set a recording on any channel for that time slot. Similar occurances to this have happened before, but I cannot give the exact circumstances I'm afraid. Any suggestions appreciated.

Problem repeated last night. Absolutely NO recording going on, nor any scheduled for the evening.We were watching program in time-shifting mode, about 1 hour 20 minutes behind live broadcast. (The tv was showing this program whilst we were out of the room, so rewind had been used to get back to the point we wanted). Scheduled live finish time was 10pm. Still watching time-shifted buffer OK at 11.10pm. Suddenly the screen cleared and live proadcast replaced it. After a few minutes we attempted to rewind back through buffer, and it went straight to last point we had been watching of earlier program. There was NOTHING in the buffer from the live broadcast we had been watching for the last few minutes. I would love to know what's causing this. Any help appreciated, or the box may be heading for the dump.

At a guess the time shift buffer has a minor corruption. The easiest fix is to format the disk but that of course deletes the recordings. The alternative is to attach the disk to a PC and use the -D option of humaxrw to delete the existing time shift buffer. A new one will be created automatically when the Humax boots up.

Many thanks for the reply. Ah, that makes sense. It would explain why it has suddenly started to do this, when it had previously been fine. I like the second option, as I am quite happy to take the disk out to do what you suggest. I guess I need to download that software from Humax site? I'll have a search for it now. Thanks again.

Just found the software and instructions. Could you clarify the -D option please? -d (lower case) refers to deleting entry numbers, but I'm unsure if this what you mean, and also how do I determine the correct entry number for the time shift buffer if it is the correct option. The only -D (upper case) mention says:
The -D option should be a function of humaxcheck instead. In order to
implement this in humaxcheck, it would have to be re-written. This is not
likely to happen any time soon.

It is -D . In a command prompt cd to the directory where you have humaxrw and type

humaxrw -h

This will show the help and the -D option is shown. NB the latest version is 1.15; http://humaxdisk.wikispaces.com/HumaxRWyou can see the reference to -D in the notes in the note download section. It has been an undocumented but functional option for several years.

Hi Martin, many thanks again. Sorry, I should have loaded the s/w first and not just read the read.me file. OK I've followed your suggestion, but first used Humaxcheck to list all files, etc, which showed there were two Buffer files, one of which had an error (incorrect termination of file or something very similar). Ran the -D option and both have gone, so hopefully, when re-created the problem will have been fixed. A bit worrying that this error has occurred though. A year or so ago I did do a low-level format of the disk to fix a different problem, and it was checked and reported as completely clean afterwards. I guess something (power cut? power surge?) has caused a further problem. All of the expected recordings were still there by the way, so fingers crossed. Many thanks for the help

The file system on the 9200/9150/9300 is well known for suffering occasional corruption but I don't know why.

Hi Martin, Yes, I think I'm beginning to get that message! Still, all seems well again now, so maybe I'll hang onto the box a bit longer. A new one was going to be my Christmas present to me... Thanks once again. It's great to know there is always someone who can help.
