Time really does fly, the 6th year I've been running this comp!
Welcome everyone to the game that's now almost as much of a Christmas tradition as Mince Pies, Dodgy jumpers and people arguing over what's 'proper darts'
The tournament runs from Friday December 13th till New Years Day January the 1st this year.
Dean michael is the defending champ and will be hoping to retain the title against what is usually a bumper field (and hopefully still will be with the game sited in it's new forum home!)
Roll of honour
2009: Faxy Fowler
2010: Terrence Chant
2011: Terrence Chant
2012: Eastlands
2013: dean michael
The PDC haven't changed the format of the tournament in about 5 years so neither am I, same as usual rules as follows.
Round 1 is reduced to predicting just 24 ties as the ones involving the preliminary round winners are to difficult for people to predict on as the prelim match occurs on the same day.
Scoring will be as follows:
First Round (Best of 5 Sets): 1 point correct result, 3 correct score
Second Round (Best of 7 Sets): 2 points correct result, 5 correct score
Third Round (Best of 7 Sets): 2 points correct result, 5 points correct score
Quarter Finals (Best of 9 Sets): 3 points correct result, 7 points correct score
Semi Finals (Best of 11 Sets): 4 points correct result, 9 points correct score
Final (Best of 13 Sets): 5 points correct result, 11 correct score
On top of the usual scoring there will be some bonus points on offer.
Round specific bonus points
Ned's Nap: The return of Ned's Nap Double points available on the 1 match each round I feel is the most competitive.
Highest 3 Dart average/Checkout/Number of 180's: 5 points on offer for choosing the player with the highest 3 dart average, checkout or number of maximums depending on my choice each round.
Tournament bonus points
These must be predicted before 7:10pm on Friday December 13th
Semi Finalists: Pick the 4 players who will come through in each quarter of the draw. 5 points available for each.
The 'Kirk Shepherd' title: Named in honour of the 2008 finalist name the player who you think will be the last NON SEED in the Tournament, 5 points once again for this. If 2 or more players go the same distance then 5 points for everyone who predicts those players.
