No, not a great VW to my mind. Not at all.

I rather liked Abbey and Aljaz's version tonight. Great choreo, beautiful top line and Abbey looked exquisite.

At least it had real class, and if course Aljaz is glorious looking.

Sadly Brendan isn't.”

But Brendan thinks he is....! I totally agree with your view.....

Oh I could have given honourable mentions to a least a dozen ahead of any of the ones being fought over here. I decided, however, for once in my life, to be succinct.

That decision is now over.

I agree, with Kara's a very close second for the female competitors. I also absolutely loved the VW pair dance from Matt & Lilia and Karen & Mark in the final.

ETA: And Karen Hardy wore one of my most favourite dresses from any SCD series'.

And to be honest, I have no issue with your adoration of Brendan, if that's how you feel (someone has to, I guess. Has me flummoxed, but hey, we can't all like the same things, can we?) It's the vitriol towards every other contestant, both past and present, that leaves a nasty taste. The ability to have a rational, balanced discussion on what is in fact a discussion forum would be nice, even if it happened just the once.”

couldnt agree more with this post

Sophie's VW was better than Abbey's VW. Deal with it!

I suppose. If you like a young Jabba The Hutt.

Some posters under appreciation for certain pros is as tiresome as others over appreciation.

It's meant to suggest flickering shadows, like in the lyrics.

Not messy: she was doing what was choreographed.

I was choosing between dances danced to the same piece of music so I preferred Kellys to Abbey

It was years ago, not last month. I don't remember Kelly's VW. I remember her American Smooth, mainly because Brendan put in an extra lift and then got mad when it was penalized by Craig (Still got a 10 from Bruno). I also remember with a shudder Kelly and Brendan's Paso. I never warmed to Kelly, but then she was handicapped by dancing with Brendan.

Luckily nobody is bound in chains to agree with you. Abbey's waltz was classy and beautiful. Poor Sophie's was the equivalent of being force fed sugar. Thank goodness no one is extolling that tango. It wasn't the greatest of quarter finals to tell the truth. Abbey's was the best on the night.

I liked both Abbey and Kelly's VWs. That's allowed, isn't it?

Both had a lot of VW content but other stuff to make them interesting.

From Brendan's previous comments and choreography, I would expect him to have loved Abbey's VW and to have applauded it, and so not sure that you're necessarily in line with Brendan's thinking, musicangel, or doing him any favours.

No idea who Jabba the Hutt is. Sorry.

You mean, if you don't like certain pro dancers no one else is allowed to like them? Really?

Aljaz is not my favourite and I am too old to be an Aljaz fan given he is young enough to be my nephew My favourite pro is Artem because he is a very talented choreographer and, as an ex dancer, I appreciate his talent and his dance ability.

However, as my involvement in dance is far deeper than just a television show or just ballroom (God forbid) I do not get terribly emotionally involved in it all and think it's best to remember it only happens once a year. Being a calm, rational objective watcher is much the best way to react to what is just prime time entertainment for the masses.

Thank heavens for the DS 'Ignore' button. Always a very rational solution to high blood pressure.

All better than Sophie's, Kelly's or Abbey's

Others disagree (Bruno for one ).

Deal with that?
I thought they were both much of a muchness and neither particularly sent me into raptures.

Not at all. But I do think it is slightly irrational when posters see only one pro as amazing and see nothing good in other pros to the point of calling them rubbish. None of the pros are 'rubbish' they have credentials enough to be chosen for a major tv show, are paid well for it and unlike many professional dancers have a degree of fame due to their involvement.

I agree Artem is a gifted dancer but he's not lighting many fires this season with his choreography.

I think for some fans the DS ignore button must be a good thing, for me, I don't need it, it's all entertainment.

On topic, Abbey's VW, along with Patrick's Rhumba was the best dance of the night,

I have to agree that Kelly's was better.
And that Sophie's was better than Abbey's, but I think both come down to choreography which Brendan is excellent at. Brendan tells a story in his dances whereas most other pros do not.
