Given that the AS is a dance entirely made up for the purposes of Strictly Come Dancing (baring very little resemblance to the actual American Smooth discipline) I don't think there are any particular "appropriate" AS songs.

Given that some really good (IMO) ASs have been danced to Fred Astaire, Frank Sinatra, Eva Cassidy, Alicia Keys, Tchaikovsky and Beyoncé, I think you're pretty much safe with anything.

Just realised I've used "given that" twice in this post. How eloquent.

I was sure it was going to be her show dance with Matt Baker

Ha! Matt was my favourite that year, but they really did play up the farmer angle, didn't they? His tweed flat cap in the showdance was a thing of sheer joy! Almost as good as his checky waistcoat in the cha cha cha.

I knew when we saw two boxes in the training room that it was going to be straw bales

I reckon they just make it up as they go along with the AT so I think Natalie might have it this week as her Latin, because they'll be desperate to get at least one decent one in this series and with Abbey not doing it, I can't see us getting one otherwise.

Plus I reckon Artem's AT with Kara was one of their most underrated dances (along with the Charleston) and Natalie should be able to do a great job with it. She's full of precision and speed and there's no real possibility of over-emoting it.

Plus plus, I reckon the BBC will have to make sure the old *SHOCK* black *HORROR* man *NOT IN THIS YEAR'S SAUSAGE-FREE SCD!* is in the final to offset all the fluffy young white women around him if they're not to be accused of racism. Unless they try to claim that having Natalie in there is proof against any sort of bias *DIRTY RINGAH*.

I really hope she gets those two styles too.

Aww I would have preferred Abbey getting the Argentine Tango but she will perform a great American Smooth anyway. I do think hers will score better than Sophie's but anything can happen.

Think that Abbey is lucky actually to dodge tbe AT, though I can see Sophie doing the better lifts in the AS (both the pro's are seen as ballroom boys, and Brendan's usually does a great AS, so it could be close).

What other routine are they doing beside the paso?

I would have thought not as it would be considered an advantage that she would have had an extra weeks training, maybe some of it will be incorporated in their showdance? - assuming they make it through this weekend!

I had hoped Abbey would have AT instead of Samba. I think her AS will be lovely

If they get to the final maybe it will be either their choice or the judges' choice dance.

Updated list here, and that means that Abbey is skipping the Argentine Tango, just as I thought she would.

It also means that there's 2 basis for comparison with Sophie (Abbey's AS, and either Natalie's Salsa or Patrick's Paso)”

just bringing this list forward (not sure I have done it right tho << I like!)

Honestly, getting the dance out of Natalie & Artem is like getting secrets from the KGB. Kristina used to verbally vomit it every Monday morning, Natalie & Artem - nothing unless we have secret squirrels that find out.

Sophie has got a good double. Not sure she will do a strong Paso though

Glad that Sophie and Brendan have opted for the Paso, I think they may go out this week but at least fans will get to see that. All my boxes will have been ticked.

Damn just shuddered at what music they may have. No more Madge please!
