Ashley didn't have a "strop" in the Swingathon

Quite a few people on here have said he had a strop when he was voted off the Swingathon- but that was just Pantomime; all of the dancers pretended to be cross with the judges' decision except Abbey&Aljaz. The same thing happened in all the other Swingathons too. Watch them all on Youtube.

Incidentally- I think Susanna & Kevin would have had longer to perform if the group choreography hadn't wasted precious bars of the dance with them all on the podiums at the beginning of the dance. In the past there was longer to get into the dance and show their ability because they were ready and waiting on the dance floor.

It was a joke it wasn't a serious strop, thought that was obvious.
I thought he should have come second.

I know, I'm surprised people didn't realise that it was an act.

Surely this is what normally happens in the Swingathon isn't it. They all do it. Don't know how anyone can call it a "strop" unless they're just looking for something to complain about.

I bow to your superior knowledge. I had no idea what Ashley was thinking, but the strop certainly looked very convincing. I can't quite see the humour in pretending to be aggressive.

It was play acting

Have people never seen 'Grease'? It's a riff on the the dance-off scene, when people get peed off with the judges when they get sent off the dance floor. I thought it was obvious....

It's a Swingathon, it's part of the whole vibe about the dance that, when a couple is chosen to leave the dancefloor, they go all protesty and whingy at the judges.

Exactly.

If you watch it through again, all the male dancers did it, unfortunately Ashely just did it the best/worst!! If people are taking it seriously, it could cost him a few votes.

People are actually taking that seriously?! Good grief! Humour is alive and well, I see.

One outburst .. sour grapes.

After another two or three it might dawn on most people that all might not be as it seems.

What were the faces he was pulling as he got his scores? Trapped wind?

I've been wondering this too. I thought it was the 'catty' ( sarcastic ) one, in place of the 'rolls eyes' one!!

Maybe not lol

I think that was more to do with the fact that he's been getting 35s for most of the series, and he knew another one was coming. I love his faces: I think he's hilarious.

He knew he was going to score 35 again and clearly thought his salsa deserved more (knee slide anyone ) << hmm that is apparently a 'roll eye' smilie......

So did I but he shouldn't have gone when he did either so he probably milked the moment and was a little more vocal than expected to come across

I posted about this on another thread somewhere and I put a question mark beside the remark about Ashley's 'outburst' to being sent off.

Brendan's response was similar and fairly loud, but Ashley's was a bit too 'good' (he is an actor after all) and was picked up well by the cameras/mikes.

So what concerned me was that some members of the viewing/voting public may not have seen what happened as humour.

SCD is an entertainment show not a dancing competition. This is why we have good cop/bad cop judges and Bruce acting as the nice guy if a judge has been "beastly". It's basically Saturday night panto.

I thought it was fairly obvious that it was a play on Grease where some of the characters react badly to losing. It made me smile

It was very obviously a pretend 'strop' and didn't he look a prat doing it lol. Even Brendan couldn't top that.

Me too - I didn't even consider that people would take it seriously

I wish the judges actually went up and tapped the couples on the shoulder like they do in Grease though! Sure they've done that before!
