No worries, I understand the vagaries of contracts for and of service pretty well.
That "history" of his does not seem to have done him any harm. Au contraire, they seem anxious to include him despite that, (plus his elimination and injury) by giving him slots on ITT. I am sure they'd find a way to leave him off screen whatever the current arragements, if they saw fit.
If they became unhappy with him then of course they may very well choose not to renew that arrangement, assuming of course James would wish it renewed himself.
That said I appreciate that you don't like his manner and I'm not suggesting you should change your view.
