Ola "Ready To Quit"

The latest rotation of the Daily Mail misery roundabout has landed on Ola, and she's given a "sad face, no makeup" interview (by way of the Sunday People, keep up) claiming she "doesn't know if I want to come back".

Linky

I have to say I'm not surprised, what with the non-headline a few weeks ago about her bust up with Karen. Having been relegated from the tour (again, although this time it's because Ashley can;t commit to the touring schedule), she might be thinking her time with Strictly is drawing to a close. Perhaps that's why she was given Ashley (no, not as a punishment) but as a kind of last hurrah- a last shot at winning.

James & Ola are devising a Latin show to tour the country with, so they might be moving off to pastures new. (And by pastures new, I of course mean the Saturday matinee at the Leeds Alhambra)

So what do we think... total bollox or Ola's Last Stand?

i read somewhere they aren't invited back for next year... on the thread about james' tweets i think... i do think their time is probably up, though i have an odd fondness for them both (in small doses)

It's a bit of a non story really. James & Ola were dropped from the tour a couple of years ago & James had a twitter rant but they still did Strictly the next year. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they don't come back though.

To be frank, I wouldn't miss her or James.

I reckon that they would both grab the chance of appearing next year but they are lining up the excuses now if a contract is not forthcoming.

I wouldn't be surprised if she is already pregnant either.

I think it's just the Tour that they haven't been invited on, and James posted quite a grouchy tweet about it. The celebs taking part already have their own pro partners though, so I don't know why James took such offence.

I don't suppose any of the other pros have been invited back yet either - I understand discussions about contracts only take place much nearer to the new series, so it's not just James and Ola.

Perhaps they are just trying to drum up publicity for their own tour? Someone on another thread said that they haven't been able to do one before because they don't have enough of a following to fill the seats.

It could go either way, I think.

I doubt the producers will want to make lots of changes to the cast given the fairly massive overhaul this year, so they may yet be kept on. If they want to leave, that's another matter.

Just because Ashley isn't doing the tour doesn't mean Ola couldn't. Pros often dance with different celebs on the tour. It looks like she is trying to imply that she is making the decision about whether to continue with Strictly or not, rather than the producers.

The Alhambra theatre is in Bradford. It has excellent productions including the RSC performing.
The Grand Theatre is in Leeds. That theatre also showcases talent. Are you a southerner by any chance? Yep, just noted Stratford as your location.
I am tempted to use the 'stick out tongue' smiley but I desisted.

Having been through some of the good years of Strictly when the pros had major influence over their theme, music and choreography they are now being given themes like the cowboy paso to You Give Love a Bad Name.

The control from above is now looking very stifling to me. I'm not surprised that the pros who have seen how it could be done better are not so keen on staying around for the new regime.

I think the whole "fight" between Karen and Ola is blown out of proportion. We all know that the professional dancing world is BITCHY and anyone who is so thin skinned as to reaction to Karen's comment, would not survive in the professional world of dance!! It seems the BBC fire good dancers at the drop of a hat and I would imagine they will want more new blood next year in Strictly. I have gone off James and Ola quite honestly. I miss Vincent and Flavia, Ian etc etc....

I think Karen is a non issue and nothing is decided now anyway.

I would much rather Ola and James stay than Vincent come back who gets a free pass for the things he has done.

That'd be a hell of a show as they'd be appearing somewhere which doesn't exist I'd possible go watch them at Leeds Grand Theatre or Bradford Alhambra though

Flavia and Vincent have both stated that they would like to come back to Strictly next year so it could be the case that James and Ola have worked out a pro pairing need to be dropped if the producers want this to happen and they are the most obvious candidates rather than the newbies such as Karen and Kevin. I imagine all the second-guessing of the producers' future plans plays a big role in the backstage tensions between the pros. It can't be very nice to realise new pros are the flavour of the month.

A lot of people were commenting on Twitter the other week that she looked pregnant and seemed to have a small bump. It was noticeable a fortnight ago when she wore that pink ball gown and she does seem have filled out all over a bit, saying that though would she allow Ashley to perform dangerous lifts if she was?

If they insist on going to the papers (or a source close to the couple) every few weeks then i'd be happy for them to go. They must think we button up the back...the poor widdle shy Jordan's, picked on by everyone.

I liked the pro lineup this year, but they've conducted themselves terribly. I just hope this new round of 'poor us' doesn't result in more idiots abusing Karen on twitter.

Maybe she really has run out of choreography ideas!

I would imagine they are realistic though - they've been on Strictly for 6 series now and have seen the pro roster change significantly in that time.

Darren and Lilia were a far less Marmite pair and were ditched without a backward glance. I shouldn't imagine anyone becomes a pro dancer for the job security and they've done well to have had a steady 6 years and publicity enough to raise their profile for other stuff like demos, stage shows and teaching.

Play their cards right and they could keep a toehold like other ex pros have done, too.

I can't believe all of the nasty comments directed at Karen under that article. I don't feel I've seen enough of Karen to really from an opinion on her, but she doesn't strike me as being unpleasant or nasty and seemed to genuinely like and get on well with Dave.

I don't believe there was ever any bullying, just two women who had a disagreement which has been resolved. The Jordan's made sure it was blown out of all proportion though, I wonder if they are jealous of Kevin and Karen? Kevin has become very popular with viewers, something I doing think James has ever managed.

Ooh, fancy.

I was just being mean really, and didn't want to nick a line from the author Jonathan Harvey who mentions the "Bradford Alhambra" in slightly pejorative terms. (not desisting)
