Maybe all that mellowing happens during Bruce's 7 year (?) absence from Gotham.

I have no problem waiting. But I'm in Ireland and Channel 5 is in the "other channels" section on Sky. So I can't record it. So some weeks I might catch it live and others not. That's why I was asking for an alternative source so I can watch it when I'm free.

Labelling it the worst thing since Schumacher might be a bit of an overreaction.

Nice to see Detective Batista turning to a life of crime having seen first hand how incompetent Miami Metro was.

Having said that, Robin Lord Taylor has been great.

I watched the first couple of episodes and think its pretty terrible to be honest. The acting is bad and I just don't like the feel of it, it seems pointless to watch as well. For the idea to have worked it would need to have been awesome anyway, which it is no where near. It feels low budget as well and that really shows. The only plus point was the penguin character but everything else is so bad that I can't sit through another episode. Disappointing.

I have a feeling David Zayas will get more to do in one season of Gotham than he did in eight seasons of Dexter to be honest.

Just read that Fox has gone for 22 episodes. I said this would be a bad idea for this show. I have already read posts saying they will have to do filler episodes. The only way they can go is the new villain every episode or the main group conspiring together. I think it may go the Heroes route after a few seasons.

Not related to this week's episode (not watched it yet), just something I've been wondering about:


How long has Gordon been in Gotham, and what was he doing before he became a Homicide Detective?

He is engaged to someone who lives in Gotham, and his own father was once the DA of Gotham.

This suggests that he himself has been in Gotham for at least long enough to have a relationship with Barbara that has become an engagement, with his father's job suggesting he grew up in Gotham, or at least is from Gotham.


And yet, since the pilot, he has shown utter amazement and surprise at the corruption of the city, as if he is the new boy in town and not just new to GCPD Homicide.

Brilliant episode. Gladwell made for an interesting hitman character.

Interesting power play display between Falcone and Maroni over control of Gotham as well this week. Not surprised one of them ended up getting control of sorts over the place.

Oswald continues to bring it, character wise. He's a very slippery little Penguin who's chalking up the body count, isn't he?

Fish is a brutal task master as well, getting two girls to literally fight each other for a spot in her club. I do find her and Bullock's rapport interesting though.

Gordon did some good detective work here too and I liked his scenes with Bruce and Alfred this week. Was less keen on the stuff with him and Barbara though.

Nice that Barbara left her apartment this week but she still needs a bit more to do. As does Essen.

Nygma has a way of emphasising his words too.

No Selina, Falcone, Montoya or Allen in this one I noticed, 8/10

Gordon was in the US military according to the first episode.


Based on the conversation with Don Falcone, Jim Gordon lived a protected life courtesy of his DA father. It seemed to me that DA Gordon was an honorable man though not an honest one (in the absolute sense of the word who saw things only as black or white but that to achieve a greater goal some sacrifices had to be made) who wanted to provide law and order to Gotham City and to do so he had to work with the crime bosses who also understood that rules were needed to keep their business of crime intact. And, the DA Gordon probably shielded his family from the rampant corruption of Gotham and filled the younger Gordon with ideals and values.

The only back story I have heard from the character was her was in the military. I think there was some kind of war. Of course the producers said that this is set in a variety of eras: it looks like 40s in some ways with outdated computers but mobile phones. I can't see how he and Barbara could have been together for that long. She was with the other lady for a year and the feelings are still raw.

Doesn't fit for me.

So did he go straight from the military to being a police detective, skipping the uniform stage?

How long has he been with Barbara? Long enough to get engaged, despite his time at war and despite his naivety of Gotham's corruption, and yet she seems to have been with Montoya fairly recently for it to be so raw for both of them.

I forgot, what was The Penguins 'thing'?

E.g. The Joker had his jokes and the Riddle had his Riddles, Catwoman was Cat like.

I know the Penguin was like a Penguin but wasn't he also know for his gadgets?

Edit: Oh that's it, wasn't it Umbrellas and fish related traps?

The Timeline of the show feels all wrong anyway.

If they are to have the villains become the villains they will be known for in Batman's time then they are going to have to last at least 10 seasons.

Yeah, there's that too.

It's certainly its own thing.

e.g. Bullock, Montoya, and Essen are all too old compared to Gordon.

Barbara last week:

"Oh Jim, I love you and believe anything you say 100%. I know that you would never lie to me or hide anything."


Barbara this week:

"TELL ME ABOUT OSWALD OR I WILL LEAVE YOU!"


I guess it was nagging at her

It annoyed me that Jim just didn't say 'He was the bloke who visited me the other day'.

It would have solved a lot of problems.

This week's episode was an improvement on the last couple.

Cannot bring myself to care about Jim and Barbara's weekly melodrama, but at least she managed to escape from the apartment this week. Bruce is still stuck in that one room in his mansion however. Poor kid, he hasn't had any fresh air since the pilot.

Ryan Atwood needs to stop staring directly into the camera. He did that on The O.C. too.

So far I'm liking this as it seems to a bit darker than most other shows, I don't mind the violence as Gotham has always been a violent city. Mind you the scenes between Gordon & his wife are just boring & don't really add anything to the show, she is a nice looking woman though

And create a whole lot of new ones when Barbara then mentions it to Montoya.

Am I missing something, or is there a reason as to why we are seeing old tech on Gotham?

Ive noticed before, but in the latest episode which just aired at US Pace, we have had an old cassette player, an old phone and then in the last scene, what appeared to be a clunky walkman!

Are they merely trying to create the show's own universe by having distinctions from real world advances? Anybody know if there is a particular reason, or might it just be a look they are after?
